Forth furrowed his eyebrows as he recalled the past. It was true that Tharit made a public announcement of Beam being engaged to a girl then but he did not put an effort in knowing her identity.
"I recall Tharit presenting a picture of the girl and ultrasound scans back then. It didn't dawn on me that she was his daughter" Forth spoke up with a pensive look.
"Her name is Madee. She was Tharit's daughter from a previous relationship, or should I say hook up. Madee's mother was from a middle class family who demanded Tharit to be responsible for Madee and marry her but they were not able to force him to marry Madee's mother.
His deal was either they agree for him to just financially support Madee and not marry her mother or they could just forget everything. If they still push for marriage, he threatened to just up and leave and they could spread rumours about him but who would believe them, he said. He was a known businessmen and had lots of connections that's why they were left with no choice but to agree.
Tharit was manipulative and cunning. He will do anything to be in his favour and use anyone to gain what he wants. He was able to control Madee since he threatens to cut off his support in her studies if she doesn't follow his bidding. Little did Tharit know she was in a relationship with a boy who comes from an Elite family, though I forgot the name of the boy.
Tharit found out about Madee being pregnant and forced her to agree on a marriage with Beam or he will have her abort the baby. He didn't give her a chance to admit who the father is.
Once the news broke out and everything went down the drain, the boy's family shunned her out. They wouldn't want anything to do with her since they thought she was two-timing their son and the Vongviphan heir. They were scared of being on the bad side of the Vongviphans.
Madee knew she can't go back to Tharit as he was in jail and that there will be nothing left for her from her father. She also didn't bother looking for us. She can't go home to her mother as she is aware of her struggles as well. Madee's mother married someone who was abusive and she had two younger siblings from her" Peach shared what she knew.
"How come you know so much about her Mother?" Bren asked.
"I usually see her when she gets her allowance from Tharit. She is a good girl who just wants the love of her father since she barely gets any from her mother and stepfather. I was able to chitchat with her whenever she has to wait for Tharit to return back then" Peach answered.
"What happened to her Phi? I remember her not wanting to go through with the marriage when we spoke to each other. She clearly loves the father of her child" Beam finally spoke up.
"Madee sought help from an orphanage. With nowhere to turn to, she doesn't want to abort her child but she knows she can't raise him on her own as well. Unfortunately, she died while giving birth.
I was not able to look for her as I was busy getting myself together since I had three children to look after and rebuilding everything from scratch" Peach responded as she fiddled with her hands on her lap.
"How are you so sure that Aran is Madee's child?" Forth asked.
"Krit had been a constant in the orphanage where Madee stayed and gave birth to. He was a major sponsor and he was there when she went there. He was able to watch her through her pregnancy and he was on a his visit when died of childbirth. When Krit and I married, we decided to adopt Aran since he grew on us.
I never knew all about his past until recently. That is when I realised why he was so obsessed in hating Jaron. He firmly believes Beam as his father ever since Tharit got his clutches on him" Peach told them.
"It never crossed my mind how literally small our world is...that our families are closely knitted and share some past until Peach and I talked about Aran" Krit spoke up as he took his wife's hand in his.
"Aran has been meeting up with Tharit prior to the final night of the Moons and Stars gathering" Kraisee said, which surprised everyone since they were not aware of his presence.
"How long have you been there?" Bahiyyah asked.
"Oh, he was with us. He was there when Aran was declared dead" Wayo answered.
"So you mean to say, the reason why he hates Jaron so much was because of the lies Tharit has been telling him?" Beam clarified.
"Yes Dr. Beam. Aran told me a few days after I found him that Tharit said you got her mom pregnant but abandoned her as you chose Jaron over him. Tharit made it look like you got another woman pregnant with Jaron since he wasn't aware yo carried him. He firmly believed him since he introduced himself as his grandfather and told him about his mother" Kraisee answered.
"How was Tharit even able to know about him?" Forth asked as he grip his hair in frustration.
"It was a coincidence when they met. It was at a convenience store and there was a newsflash about Dr. Beam and his family. Aran was murmuring something to me about Jaron. Even if it has been a while since they last saw each other, he still recognised him.
That is when Tharit approached him. I warned him not to trust the guy since he was a stranger but he didn't listen. Next thing I knew was that he believed in everything the man said and refuse to listen to reason" Kraisee replied.
"How did Jaron and Aran even crossed paths if you live in Krabi and we were in Chiang Mai?" Brissa asked.
"We used to live in Chiang Mai but then Krit decided to move to Krabi where his most profitable resort is. Who would've guessed we would cross paths once more in Krabi and then afterwards" Peach said in response.
"It was no wonder Aran changed for the worse. His mind was being poisoned all this time by Tharit" Krit sighed as he shook his head in disappointment.
Just then, Phana, Chon and Thanu stepped put of the operating room. Chon, Lem's father, was the head surgeon in Boone's surgery while Phana acted as his assistant and Thanu as their anaesthesiologist.
Chon removed his face mask as he was about to speak with the family.
"How is he Chon?" Brissa immediately asked.
Chon sighed and looked at them with a blank face. "I'll be honest and say it will be critical for the next forty eight hours. He sustained two gunshot wounds and they were double action bullets. One hit his spine while the other missed his heart by a few centimetres but pierced his left lung"
Brissa gasped and Blake was there immediately to hold her and support her. Bahiyyah weeped in Bren's arms who tried to keep a stoic face while Beam remained motionless against the wall.
Forth could still see his father-in-law running towards his husband and son when he heard a shot fired and then another. The next thing he knew Boone Vongviphan was falling down face first on the floor.
"It was a good thing that we were able to get the bullets out immediately as it seems it was drenched in poison before it was loaded. That boy really did know what he is doing, he really intended to kill" Chon added.
"Thank you for doing your best Uncle" Forth spoke on behalf of his husband and family. "Shall I ask for the family suite to be converted into having an ICU set up?"
"That would be best so we could monitor him closely. If you'll excuse me, I'll need to do his abstract" Chon answered as he turned around to go back to the room to finish the report.
