125 | the visit

Lem and Chon Darawan were still in the room when the Kiragun siblings came. They remained calm and silent when they saw their mother smiling fondly at Lem while holding his hand.

"Hello Mom" Annie greeted as she came closer to the bed. "How are you feeling?"

Peach looked at her and noticed her other children behind Annie. "Oh you're back already?"

"Of course we'll be back soon as we heard what happened" Rich said as he stood next to Annie.

"How did you know we're here? Oh and have you checked on your Dad?" Peach asked them.

The siblings looked at each other awkwardly. They don't know how to explain that it was the hospital owner's son that told them.

Sensing the situation, Lem decided to speak for his siblings. "Ahm, we had someone inform them. Annie was my patient before"

Peach was surprised. "You've met before?"

Lem took a deep breath. "Yes, Mom" he replied.

Peach insisted for him to call her 'Mom' the moment Chon confirmed Lem is their son. She looked at her younger children with teary eyes. "You knew?"

Annie nodded hesitantly. "I remember your stories about having older brothers when I was younger and even Rich does. I'm sorry we didn't tell you since we didn't know how to open the subject" she said as she looked at the floor.

Peach covered her mouth with one of her hands to stop herself from sobbing out loud. Lem held her other hand tightly and rubbed her arm to calm her down.

"Hey, stop crying Mom. It won't do you good...besides, there are no hard feelings amongst us. Shouldn't you be happy?" Lem said softly as he kneeled by her bedside.

"It's just that I dreamt of meeting you for a long time and for you to meet your siblings" Peach sniffled. "I just hope you older brother is here too but that would be wishful thinking"

"Hmmm...you shouldn't be thinking that Phitchaya" Chon Darawan spoke up. "Dr. Bren could be a lot of things but he grew up as a fine young man. Just give him time...by the way he reacted last night, I doubt it won't be long before you'll meet him again"

"What do you mean by last night?" Peach asked.

"Don't you remember meeting him in the ER last night? He was there with Chalerm panicking" Chon answered with a chuckle.

Peach tried to recall and scrunched her forehead. "Don't tell me?"

"Yes Mom...the doctor barking orders at the interns...the one speaking frantically on the phone...the same doctor standing beside P'Beam with tears in his face" Lem said.

Just then, there was a soft knock on the door. When it opened, everybody became silent.

There on the door stood the Vongviphan couple, Boone and Brissa, with a basket of fruits and a boquet of flowers. They entered the room as the younger Kiraguns moved to step out the room, leaving only Annie, Rich and the Darawans.

"Hello Peach. It's been a while" Brissa greeted as she handed their gifts to Annie, who placed them on the bedside table.

"Mrs. Vongviphan" Peach said meekly and tried sitting up on bed.

"Hush dear" Brissa stopped her from moving. "Don't fret too much. This is a friendly visit, we don't mean any harm"

Lem looked at Breesa and Boone with pleading eyes as he approached them. He gave the couple a peck each on their cheek.

"No need to look like a kicked puppy Lem. I'm not here to rip out your mother's throat" Brissa teased the young doctor as she hugged him.

Lem pouted. "Did P'Bren come home to you guys?" He asked as he returned the hug.

Peach looked at them curiously while Chon just smiled at their interaction fondly.

"Yeah, Blake brought them there and I believe your P'Beam and P'Forth are still here in the hospital" Boone answered.

Lem took that as his cue to step out of the room and leave his biological parents and the Vongviphan couple, his second set of parents. He knew they needed to talk about a lot of things.

The young doctor looked at Annie and Rich. "Why don't we visit your Dad and let them talk. Both Dad and Por Bo are doctors so they would definitely take care of Mom"

Albeit hesitant, Annie and Rich followed their older brother out of the room.

Once they were out, Chon pulled a chair for Brissa to sit on while he and Boone remained standing near the bed.

"How are you feeling Peach? That was a terrible accident. Both you and Krit were lucky to make it" Brissa said, full of concern, as she sat on the chair.

Peach smiled at that. She knew Brissa as a genuine person when she was still working as a secretary for Boone. She was never one to fake an interaction and would literally let you know if she doesn't like you.

"A bit sore and dizzy...and thankful for another chance in life" Peach answered as she lowered her head.

Brissa hummed and sighed. "You know what Peach...we had a rough past and I've made peace with that. You should too since sooner than we expected, Bren would be back in your life" she said with an encouraging smile as she reached out a hand to hers.

Peach couldn't help but let her tears flow. "I'm so sorry. I know I haven't asked for forgiveness for what I've done and I never deserved your kindness"

"Hmmm...it's all over now. Or should be, soon. You've done well with your children...except for one" Brissa said.

Peach wiped her tears away and sighed. "Oh that boy. For all the wrong that I've done in my life, I hoped I did right with him but...I guess I expected too much"

Boone chuckled. "Well, there's nothing wrong in hoping and righting the wrong. We've met them all and I could say, you and Krit did great. Annie is an excellent teacher, Rich is an exceptional young man, Pree is a bubbly and optimistic sweetheart and Anya is an adorable lass. You both tried your best with Aran as I've heard from Ria"

"Yeah, surprisingly, Ria has a lot to say about your children...all are good things" Brissa agreed. "I know we have a lot to talk about, but for now, focus on getting better"

Peach was speechless. The last encounter she had with them was at the precint which wasn't quite good. Friya Jamornhum has been an instrument for her to give a decent life for hers and Tharit's children.

She kept her head down and gently wiped her tears away. "Thank you for giving me a chance back then. I know Khun Jamornhum and her wife wouldn't have been that generous if it wasn't for you and Dr. Bo"

Boone hummed in the background while Brissa just smiled.

"You'll be surprised how generous Madame Ria is even if she could be vicious and wicked when she wants to" Chon commented which made the Vongviphan couple laugh.
