WATER FIGHTS"I can't believe you're actually doing it." Aurora giggled, staring at Alex who was twerking against the wall in their room in the Homestead. Alex stopped and turned around to Aurora with a large smirk on his face.
It was two am and Aurora and Alex were having another one of their sleepovers. Aurora was sat on Alex's bed, the blankets all thrown on the floor in case he fell over while twerking.
"You told me to do it, so I obliged." Alex shrugged, making his way back over to his bed. Aurora budged over so Alex had some room. "Could I braid your hair?" Alex innocently asked Aurora as he twirled a piece of her chocolate-coloured hair around his index finger.
"Sure." Aurora replied as she positioned herself on the bed so Alex was behind her. She fiddled with her fingers while Alex braided her hair with such ease.
Aurora had been in the Glade for about two weeks, and she was settling in. It was like she had been there her whole life. Her and Gally were now on good terms, and everyone respected her — to some extent anyway.
Aurora's life in the Glade was like a sunflower, she needed care and nurture. Sunflowers needed time to grow and then they always face the sun or each other, otherwise they would die. Aurora's sunflowers were Alex and Newt, they made her life whole. It was as if the three of them shared one soul, being one person that was connected. They had a deep emotional bond; it would never be broken. Not even by death itself.
Mizpah.
"Done." Alex said, snapping Aurora out of her thoughts. She reached around and felt the braid, twisting it between her fingers. It felt neat, like Alex had done it hundreds of times in the past.
"Thank you," Aurora smiled, moving so she was comfortably lay beside Alex. A small smile graced her lips, she felt at peace with him beside her.
Alex reached over and began to tickle Aurora in the ribs, no doubt for pay back from the other week. Aurora began to laugh hysterically; she was laughing so hard that she was crying. Mustering all the strength she had, Aurora managed to kick Alex off the bed, and he landed onto the floor with a very loud 'thud.'
Seeing Alex's position on the floor, Aurora began to laugh even louder — she didn't care how noisy she was being and her sides began to ache with happiness.
The sun rose in the sky over the Maze walls as fresh colours brushed upon an artist's canvas, as if those rays were destined to create a great work of art — one given to those open to capturing simple moments in the soul. A new day, a new chance, and a clean slate.
But because Aurora and Alex were being so loud, this caused Jake to storm into their room. His dark hair was all askew on his face and he was wearing a grey top and blue plaid pyjama bottoms. He stood in the doorway, a look of displeasure obviously worn on his face.
