The sun rose over the Glade, signifying a new day. Although it was a new day, for the Gladers, the sun didn't seem to brighten their dampened moods.

The news of Newt's attempted suicide spread across the Glade like a wildfire. Whispers were unfurled, travelling between each person with new details added.

The first rumour started off as the facts: Newt crept into the Maze, climbed the highest wall and tried to jump off — but he got tangled in the ivy. The rumours then began to spread, coming up with the most absurd ideas. All of which Alby dealt with rather viciously.

However, Aurora had fallen asleep in the hut, her hands still tightly grasping Newt's cold ones. The Med-jack hut's door was slightly agar, attracting a certain Runner's attention.

Minho got back from his shower after running and came to learn the truth about Newt's mental well-being. He immediately went to the Med-jack hut to visit his unconscious figure but was unable to enter upon heading Aurora's fragile cries.

It broke his heart. Minho was ushered away by Jake, who took him to Frypan to get some sustenance.

So, when Minho woke up the next morning and saw the Med-jack hut door slightly open, he couldn't help but enter.

He saw Aurora hunched over, dead asleep — a small smile graced his lips. She looked peaceful in sleep, her chocolate brown hair falling across her face even though there were dry tears on her cheeks.

Minho looked across and saw Newt lying down, his eyes shut and his chest rising and falling with heavy lidded breaths. It felt like a stab to the chest to see Newt in that state, Minho felt like he had let him down.

Aurora suddenly began to stir, groaning slightly as she lifted herself back up into a sitting position. Minho watched as she attempted to brush her fingers though her hair to tame it but failed miserably. She sighed loudly, her exhale causing the room to become ever so colder.

"You look like a mess." Minho stated, causing Aurora to jump out of her chair and then turn and scowl at him.

Nice one Minho! Now she'll hate you! Well done you shucking slinthead.

"Wow thanks," Aurora replied, yawning. There were evident bags under her eyes and her eyes looked glassy — as if she was trying her hardest not to cry.

"I'm just kidding," Minho said softly, quietly walking over to Aurora. "Did you get any sleep last night?"

Aurora chuckled and shook her head. "No... well yes but not that much." Her shoulders deflated slightly as she rubbed her eyes with her fists.

"Go back to the Homestead and get some rest — "

" — no." Aurora interrupted, "I can't leave him, I just can't." her voice broke at the end of her sentence, reflecting the mess of emotions she was feeling inside.
