EAVESDROPPERAurora was becoming increasingly concerned about Newt. He was becoming tired, grouchy and easily got irritated. He hardly spoke to anyone, keeping himself locked away in his room of the Homestead.
Aurora tried to approach Newt about his newfound attitude, but she couldn't find the time or she got a door slammed angrily in her face. She believed the Builder's had it in for her, injuring themselves more than usual — leaving Aurora, Alex, Clint and Jeff pretty much confined in the Med-jack hut.
She was sat beside Gally, watching Alex as he patched up his knee. The sun was shining through the small window at the back of the hut, causing the temperature to rise ever so slightly. Gally hissed while Alex wiped his cut with an alcohol wipe, scrunching his face together as his cut stung.
"That hurts." Gally muttered, glaring at Alex.
Alex rolled his eyes and Aurora shook her head. "Honestly Gally, what do you expect? How did you even cut your knee?"
Gally paused and bit his lip. It looked like he really didn't want to tell Aurora the reason he was in the Med-jack hut. She raised an eyebrow at him, and then elbowed him in the ribs.
"Tell me!" she pleaded, turning to face Gally. "Pretty please, I thought we were friends Gally..."
"We are!" Gally said hurriedly. "It's just... one of the pigs escaped from the pen so I had to catch it, and I did, but I fell over..." he continued, his voice hardly audible when Gally had finished talking.
The Med-jacks stared at Gally in disbelief. It was silent for a moment until Alex snorted and Aurora began to laugh.
"It's not funny!" Gally said indignantly, glaring at the four Med-jacks.
"I think it is," Aurora giggled, bumping shoulders with Gally. "We won't tell anyone, I promise."
"Do you have to promise?" Alex muttered, crossing his arms and frowning. Aurora sent him a glare and his frown immediately dropped.
After a few more minutes, Gally was free to leave to leave the Med-jack hut which left the Med-jacks rather bored. Aurora sighed deeply and looked out of window, desperately waiting for the Runners to arrive back from the unknown depths of the Maze.
Alex got up and stood beside Aurora, rubbing circles into her back. "Newt, Minho and Ben will be back soon — don't worry."
"I know," Aurora sighed deeply, "but how can I not worry? I'm also worried for Newt, he's acting different." Aurora bit her lip and cast her eyes down to the ground.
It was Alex's turn to sigh. "I'm sure he's fine," Alex reassured. "This is Newt we're talking about. He can survive through anything."
"I guess you're right." Aurora agreed, re-braiding her hair. "I just want them to back at the Glade, safe and sound."
