Chapter Three

Communication and Interaction

White. That was the motif of the garden event which is to commemorate the future union of two clans. It was considered a highly regarded event of royalties to show respect and support to the clans and to prove that no clan is against it.

Danae didn't come because she doesn't want to. She blatantly rejected Ate Hena's invitation which I can't because I don't want to disappoint Ate Hena and I wanted to be of help to her in any way.

I looked around and they were all wearing extravagant attires, unlike Ate Hena. But royalties are somewhat understanding and considerate because they didn't question her lack of participation in the event.

However, as usual, they were dismayed in her attire. She is used to mockery and disrespect royalties, the reason why it doesn't affect her that much anymore.

"Wife." I bowed down when King Archirale went to Ate Hena and snaked his arms in her waist. He kissed her cheeks which made me look sideways. It's been a rule that whenever they were intimate, we have to turn our back or avoid the scene as much as possible.

And I don't want to witness that. It's... awkward.

"You came, Amara," I returned my gaze to them and smiled when called my attention.

"Yes, Your Majesty. I wanted to accompany the Queen." He nodded at my answer before looking at Ate Hena again.

His eyes look so worried. "I thought you won't come, Athena? You can just rest at Palace, you don't have to force yourself to be okay."

"Don't worry, I won't stay long. I just want to show myself, My King."

When the King led Ate Hena to the crowd, I remained standing behind her even though she insisted I should stay beside her instead.

But Ate Hena is not that patient.

She gripped my wrist harder every time I tried to escape from her hold. "Stay beside me, Amara," she said, glaring. You aren't my attendant so don't stay behind me!"

"Alright, alright. Just calm down," mahinahon kong pakiusap sa kaniya nang makitang ubos na ang pasensiya niya sa akin.

She rolled her eyes and dragged me every where. I mean, I'm not good at names, okay? And why do I have to memorize all their names kung wala naman silang maiaambag sa buhay ko?

"My, I didn't even recognized you, Louisa. You look astonishing in your attire tonight," Ate Hena said upon approaching a royalty whom she called Louisa.

"Your Majesty," the lady kissed Ate Hena's cheeks before returning to her place. "I heard about His Excellency, I'm sorry." I saw how all the emotions in Ate Hena's face faded. It's still a sensitive topic yet this woman opened it like a simple thing. How rude.

I was about to open my mouth and respond when I felt Ate Hena's grip on my wrist, stopping me. "That's life, Queen Louisa. Very unpredictable."

"I agree. But that's what makes the life exciting, isn't?" Ate Hena didn't respond so Queen Louisa felt awkward.
