Chapter Thirteen
Date
"V-vini..." I said, almost breathless. He is so near me! He is making me catch my own breath. This isn't normal anymore! While he... he looked calm and collected. So unfair!
Then he put a distance between us making me disappointed. But atleast I can breathe a bit normal now.
"I followed you. I got worried because you look unsettled. Buti na lang sumunod ako. Look, you almost got crashed by a car," he sounded mad but his face is laced with worry.
I smiled at him. "Thank you for saving me back there."
He sighed and checked my arms for possible scratches kahit siya na mismo nagsabi kanina na nakuha niya ako bago pa ako masagasaan. Napailing na lang ako sa kaniya.
He released a sigh like he was relieved to see me unharmed. "Have you met your friend? Kaya ka nagmamadali diba?"
My brows furrowed at his question. I didn't answer and just waited for more specific sentence from him.
"Your friend, Carrine. The girl back in Midaestas?"
My lips parted. Confused at what he is pertaining to. Does he mean Carrine was around the area as well? Is that it?
I certainly don't believe in coincidences, especially when it concerns current situation. It just doesn't make sense but... it's Carrine. I feel like I should give her a benefit of the doubt, at least.
I nodded at Vini. That's what I could do for now. I still can't wrap my head around the fact that Carrine is here and Izaac's meeting with Elizabeth.
Everything is still unclear to me and I need to clarify it before making a move.
When I looked again at Vini, he was examining my face. But I'm good at feigning my feelings. Except my feelings for him 'cause it comes out naturally whenever I am with him.
"Are you busy?" Tanong ko para maiba laman ng isip niya.
It took him a while to answer, probably weighing his words. "Nah," he said.
My eyes glimmered with hope. "Then you are free now? Tama ba?"
He nodded and I took that chance to grab his hand and drag him inside the mall. He look dumbfounded as he let me drag him.
Hindi na ako nagtangkang bilhan siya ng kahit ano. Because if there is one thing we have in common is the pride. Or ego, in his perspective.
"Come on, I'll treat you a snack. It's already late, Vini," I said as I walk towards the stall in front of the school.
Dumidilim na pero nagugutom na talaga ako. Those requirements are head-aches!
"That, that, and that. Three of those po," I said with a smile. I looked at Vini.
He also looked worn out. It's given since he is busy already with his academics plus his responsibilities. I can't even imagine his exhaustion.
"Ikaw? What do you want? My treat!"
He fixed his long shoulder bag and raised an eyebrow at me. "I can pay, you know."
I nodded. "Wala naman akong sinasabi. It's just that I'm older than you."
I thought he would let go of the argument but he didn't. "Being older than I am... does it make you feel like you're responsible of my well-being?"
"Uhh, hindi ba?" Naguguluhan na tanong ko. "I mean, like how a sibling would care for her younger sibling. Isn't her responsibility as the eldest?"
