Chapter Eight
Madness of Game"You liar! You're a fucking scam, Amara. How... how could you use your position to play with people, huh? Is it fun? Did you have fun?!"
It was Vini and he was fuming mad, no, he was furious. I was eating my lunch in the cafeteria for the last time when he suddenly barged in and grabbed my hands which resulted to me, being pulled up in anger.
I can feel the stares of the students around us. Some stopped walking and eating just to watch the scene.
This has to stop. We are beginning to cause a commotion.
I... don't even know what you're talking about, Vini!" Hirap na sabi ko habang tinatanggal ang pagkakahawak niya sa akin.
I made sure to make my voice low as possible. But this guy is too emotional.
He chuckled sarcastically. "Really, Amara? Playing dumb? Is this who you really are? I thought you were different, I guess I was wrong."
"But I-,"
"Enough!" He snapped and glared at me. "Tigilan mo na ang pagsisinunggaling mo!" He said and I flinched when his hold tightened.
But I don't even know what he was talking about! Damn it!
"Ano ba kasing sinasabi mo?!" Nakakainis, puro siya paratang eh hindi ko nga alam ang sinasabi niya.
He pulled me close to him and gritted his teeth in anger. "You... you aren't supposed to be part of the duty. I went to the office and I made fool out of myself."
"The office? You went there?"
He smirked. "Yes, Amara. And that's when I knew you were a scam. There wasn't a foundation in the first place! Masaya bang paglaruan at paasahin ang mga tao? Did you have fun watching us hope? I am so stupid to trust you for something like that."
"You are nothing but just another royalty hungry for power," he said and left the cafeteria.
I was left alone with judging eyes around me. Are they expecting me to break down? Nope. Not gonna happen, not in this lifetime would I let anyone see me weak.
Instead of leaving the cafeteria, I sat down and finished my food as if nothing happened. If I left, they surely assume that I ran away to cry. As if I would do that.
I looked at my wrist, namumula ito dahil sa higpit ng hawak ni Vini kanina. It will be swollen in a few hours. But I stopped looking at it when I still felt their stares, I casually leaned on the chair and raised an eyebrow.
What's the use of acting nice? My image is already ruined anyway.
"The show's done. What are you all waiting for?" Mataray kong sabi. I rarely reveal this side of me dahil ayaw kong maging ganto.
The reason why I wanted to study here is because no one knew the real Amara. I can act nice and kind here but in the palace, they know how rough my attitude is.
They all mind their own business which I wanted para makakain naman ako ng maayos. When I finished my food, I stood up and fixed my plates to place it in the dishwashing area before leaving the cafeteria.
So annoying.
When I sat on my favorite bench, I rolled my eyes when I felt a familiar presence beside me.
"Heard the commotion. That was one hell of drama," Izaac said.
I rolled my eyes at him. "It's your fault! Leche ka kasi eh!"
He chuckled and rubbed his arms nang hinampas ko siya. "What? It's not my fault that your man is stupid, Amara. Damn, he didn't even know the customs. Didn't know that you lowered your standards, Aunt."
"Shut up, Izaac Archirale," Inis kong sabi.
When he cleared his throat, I know he wants to talk about something serious. "But you had the chance to correct him, why didn't you?"
My smirk turned into laugh. Izaac remained staring like I lost my mind.
"You know that your laugh is creepy, right?" He commented which made me laugh even more.
"Seriously, what are you planning?" He asked. I stopped laughing and faced him with a smile on my face.
"Nothing, Izaac."
He shook his head. "Amara, you are just years older than me but I know how wicked you are. You love playing tricks and games and I know when you are playing one... and when you are winning."
"Glad that you know me well, Nephew."
Vini. That guy... I never thought he has shallow mind. Maybe because he is still young and he is still not yet exposed to reality? Is that it? I refuse to admit that he is plain stupid for not knowing the customs.
For the first time, I saw his flaw. He can easily be disappointed and he can easily conclude something. Not that I blame him for being like that, it's just amazing to know that he is not that perfect.
He was wrong. The office won't know the results of the foundation until we give them the official list of students entering the Royalty School. It was to avoid trampling the results and to have fair selection among students.
Kapag kasi dinamay namin ang school, it is most likely that professors would choose someone they know the most. Someone who can do their bidding when they were tired or lazy. Someone willing to have points by trying to be on their good side.
Iyon ang iniiwasan namin. The foundation was established to find students with admirable goals that can help the Royal Society. We need their broad mind and deep view of the Society.
"Amara." I went back to reality when I heard Izaac's frustrated voice.
I smiled sweetly at him at tapped his cheeks. "You don't have to know that."
Izaac released a sigh and offered to drive us home. When I got home, I changed into a comfortable clothes. Spaghetti strap silk dress. I just added my cardigan para hindi ako mapagalitan ni Ate Hena.
After dinner, I excused myself and went to my room. As I waited for Sol, I sat on my study chair with my study lamp on.
Mindlessly, I repeatedly tapped my forefinger in the table. That was my last day and it ended well.
Not really well but atleast I already expected that kind of outcome from Vince. Except the physical harm because I never thought Vince would hold me tightly like that.
Wala sa sarili akong napahawal sa braso ko na namamaga na. One of the reason why I had to use cardigan. Ate Hena would surely raise hell once she saw this.
He was really mad, alright. And disappointed as well. Halata naman iyon dahil umaasa siya. He even shared his goal. He felt like the world crushed in front of me just because the office wasn't aware of our work.
Stupid. Annoying. Jerk.
He didn't even let me speak! He was blabbering his rants without hearing me out first.
But that's okay... because surely, he would apologize and beg when we meet again. And I'll make sure of it.
Time to execute Plan B.
