Adjusting Time

Henry has been adjusting to living with Emma, Killian, and Hope very easy. Killian was happy to have a son to talk Star Wars with and play with legos. He loves playing with his old legos with his son. Henry has been adjusted to the Swan-Jones household playing with Hope, reading with Emma, playing legos with Killian,watching Star Wars with Killian and Marvel movies with Emma. A few days later, Killian had to return to work since Henry arrived at their house. He wakes up early to get ready. Emma hears her husband getting ready and wakes up. She hugs him around his swan. "Morning, swan.""Morning, honey." They kiss. "Are you going to be alright with two kids in the house?""Killian, the three of us are going to be fine. Hope loves Henry. They are always playing with each other. It will be easier for me to get laundry and cooking done without making sure Hope doesn't get into mischief now that she is walking more with Henry keeping Hope entertained." "Aye, I love our little family.""Yes, me too." They hug."Mom, Dad?" They see Henry by their door. "Son, is everything alright?" He goes to his son.Henry hugs his new Dad. "Dad, you are coming back home right?" Killian thinks Henry is used to people leaving him, which reminded him of himself as a lad worried about his father who always did not come home. He kneels to his son. "Henry, I am coming back home tonight son. My job is to fly an airplane and fly it back here to New York. I always call Emma when I am on my break from flying. I can talk to you on Facetime, son. I will be home tonight, son." Henry hugs his Dad. "I am coming back home son. I promise. You are going to have a fun day with your Mom and sister.""I do not want you to go." Henry began crying.Killian hugs his son. "I have to work,son. I will call you so we can talk during my layover, son."Emma faces her son. "Henry, we are going to have a fun day. We are going to Barnes and Noble in Manhattan today with my sister, your Allison and your cousin Connor." "I am going to meet my aunt today?"Emma smiles. "Yes, you are! She is meeting us here. We are going to travel together to Manhattan on the subway.""Awesome! Manhattan today and riding on the subway." "Lad, you are going to have a fun day with your Mom, sister, aunt and cousin. I will call you when I am in my layover.""I am going to miss you.""Aye, I am going to miss you today too. I will see you tonight. I am coming back, lad. I always come back." Killian hugs his son. "I will tell you all about my day when I get home.""Can we play with legos?"Killian smiles. "Yes, we can, lad. Swan, I will see you tonight.""I will see you tonight. Have a safe flight.""I will." They kiss. Killian leaves knowing his son needs to learn that he is not leaving him forever that he will come back. Henry continued crying. Emma hugs her son. "Henry, he will come back tonight. He always comes back." Emma holds her very upset son and takes him to his room and sits on the bed. She rubs his back. "Everything is going to be okay, kid. He is going to come back. You are with me, Henry.""Mom." He hugs her."I am right here, Henry. I am not going anywhere." Henry falls back to sleep. She stayed with him as he slept knowing he needs to be reassured that he is safe and not alone. She remembers her time in the foster system and hated change, she always felt that people left her forever. She did not want that feeling for Henry. A few hours later, she hears Hope awake in the next bedroom and goes to her bedroom. Hope was standing on her crib gripping the railing. "Mommy!" Hope was smiling happy seeing her Mommy.Emma loves seeing her daughter happy in the morning. "Good morning, Hope!" She scooped Hope onto her hip and kissed her on the head. Hope hugs her Mommy. "I love you so much." She kisses Hope on her cheek. "Let's get you into a clean diaper and a new outfit." She changes Hope's diaper and puts Hope in a pink dress and a bow bandana headband. "You are so pretty in your new outfit." She gave Hope kisses on her cheek. "Mommy." She gripped her Mommy's face. Emma smiles. "I love you, Hope." Hope babbles. She puts Hope down and lets Hope hold her hand as they walk. Hope points at Henry's room. "Henry is still sleeping, sweetie." Hope tugs her Mommy's hand. "We have to be quiet in Henry's room." Hope babbles. They go into Henry's room. Emma sits next to Henry with Hope on her lap. Hope babbles and pats Henry's head. "That is Henry." Hope babbles. Henry wakes up smiling seeing his sister. Hope screams. "Hi, Hope." He holds his sister. "I love you, Hope." He kisses Hope on the head. Emma smiles seeing her two children getting along. "Henry, after we have, breakfast Allison is coming over and we are going to the city together on the subway." "I cannot wait for the subway ride.""It will be fun today. Do you want to help me cook breakfast?""Yes. What are we having?""Do you want pancakes, waffles or eggs? We can have two of them like eggs and pancakes or eggs with waffles?""Can we have pancakes and eggs?""Yes. You can help me cook." Emma puts Hope in her high chair and Henry cracks the eggs and helps her mix the pancake batter. Hope wanted to join them and began to cry. "Mommy."Emma gets Hope from her high chair. "Hope, are you feeling left out? Do you want to help Mommy and Henry cook breakfast?" Hope babbles."Yea." She kisses Hope on the head."Mom, she can mix the scrambled eggs. I did the pancake batter.""You did a great job, Henry. Hope can help us mix the eggs." She puts Hope on the counter and helped her daughter mix the eggs. Henry takes a picture of Hope mixing the eggs on his Mom's iPhone. "You are helping us cook breakfast Hope." Hope smiles. "Mom, Hope, smile." He takes a picture of his Mom and sister. Emma smiles. "That is a great picture, Henry. How about." She takes her iphone and they do a selfie. "You and me." "Perfect." Hope babbles. "Mom, I think Hope wants to join us?"Emma smiles loves hearing Henry calling him Mom."I think you are right." She takes Hope from the counter, and holds her on her hip as Henry takes a selfie of three of them. "That is a great selfie, Henry.""Thanks, Mom." They had breakfast. Allison and Connor enter the house. "Emma?""Allison, we are in the kitchen." Emma goes to her sister. "Hi!""Hi!" They hug. "Where is my new nephew?""In the kitchen.""How is he adjusting?""He fits right in with us. He just has a few issues with food. We always remind him that he has food here. He gets afraid easily thinking he is in trouble. Other than that he loves playing with any of us. I have been helping him practice his reading. Killian is happy to have a son to play with legos with and talk about Star War with." Emma led Allison and Connor to the kitchen. "Henry.""Mom, she is your twin." The two sisters laugh. "Dad was right you two have the same laugh." "Hi, Henry. I am your Aunt Allison.""Hi, Aunt Allison." Henry hugs Allison making his aunt smile. "This is my son, your cousin, Connor.""Hi, Connor." "You will be seeing a lot of me because I come over here all the time." "I like that. Mom and Dad got me a Lego set but I cannot leave it on the floor because I don't want Hope to eat them.""Babies tend to eat anything they see. Connor and Hope tend to try to put everything they see in their mouth.""Em-em." Connor goes to Emma. "Little man, Henry is your new cousin." "Aunt Allison, Mom and Dad made my room. Do you want to see my room?""Yes, I would love to see your room." Allison smiles at her sister. Henry leads her upstairs. "Aunt Allison, Mom and Dad got me this Star Wars bedding and..." He shows her the Disney toys. "They got all of these Disney toys. Mom got me this Lego set. I am still working on it. Dad and I also been playing with his legos, too.""That is so cool, Henry.""Hope's birthday is 5 days before mine.""Oh really?""Yes, my birthday is August 15th.""We have two birthdays in August to celebrate." "Em-em.""Connor, are you hungry?" She puts her nephew next to Hope. The two babies babble to each other. She set up some scrambled eggs for her nephew to have. Connor eats his eggs. "Are they yummy? Hope helped me cook them."Emma, Henry and Allison with the two babies traveled onto the 7 train. Emma was teaching Henry about the subway map as she had Hope in her carrier.Connor was crying. "Connor, are you afraid of the subway noise?""Mama!" Allison took her son out of his stroller and hugs him. "Mama.""You are with me. Everything is okay, little man. Shh..shh..." Emma sees Allison struggle with Connor and the stroller. "Kid, we should be sitting down. You can tell me when we are close to Times Square.""Okay, Mom." They return to their spot. Emma holds the stroller. "Thank you.""You are welcome. I see my nephew is very upset.""Yes, he is. I think he is afraid of the subway noises. He just wants his Mama." "Mama.""You are with me, baby boy." She lifts her son up and down. "Mama." Allison hugs her son and rubs his back.Henry faces his new cousin. "Connor, everything is going to be okay, little cuz. We are almost there. The subway makes noise which is normal." Connor looks at Henry. Allison smiles at her new nephew knowing now how Henry fits in with the rest of their family. They transferred to the N train at Times Square and got off at Union Square. Henry went upstairs first, Emma and was helping her sister with the stroller and very upset Connor. "Wow, this is Manhattan.""Henry, wait for us, kid.""Yes." Emma helped Allison set up the stroller for Connor, Hope who was crying because Connor was crying. "Little man, we are not in the subway anymore. We are outside." "Mom, I can hold Hope." Emma gives Hope to Henry and takes Connor from her sister so Allison can set the stroller. "Hope, do not cry. Everything is okay, little sis." Hope hugs Henry. "Connor, everything is okay, little man." She rubs her nephew's back. "Allison, there is a playground here for the kids can play." Emma and Allison to their children to the park hoping the two babies can calm down. Emma and Allison pushed their babies on the baby swings as Henry played on the slides and climbers nearby. Connor fusses. "Connor." Allison takes him out of the swing. "Little man is having a rough day.""He has been having a rough morning. Connor, do you want to go where Henry is playing?" Connor points where Henry was. "We can go play with henry. Emma, I can be with the boys." She takes her somewhere Henry was. "Aunt Allison, Connor can play with me." Henry helps Connor around the playground. Connor followed Henry around. Allison took pictures of the two boys. Hope fusses. Emma takes her daughter out of the swings. "Do you want to play where Henry and Connor are playing?" Hope fusses. "No? How about we find another place to play?" She held Hope's hand and they walked around the park to Connor and Allison. She hugs her aunt's legs. "Hi, little niece." She holds Hope. Emma did not see Henry wher Connor was playing. "Henry?" She goes looking for her son. She finds Henry climbing on a metal rock climb wall which had big gap to the wide bars at the end to go down. "Henry! Be careful!""Mom, I can do this.""I do not want you to get hurt.""I am not going to get hurt, Mom." He climbs up and sees the whole park. "Awesome! I can see the whole park from here." "Henry, focus on what you need to get down here, kid." She doesn't want her son to get an injury on their first day in Manhattan. Henry went backward down the bars safely. Emma hugs Henry in relief that is not hurt. "Mom, I am not hurt.""I know. I just don't want you to get hurt that is all. You scared me. If you got hurt, I..." Emma sighs. "I am so happy you are not injured."Henry looks at his Mom seeing her face. "I am sorry for scaring you, Mom. I am not used to being cared for.""You are going to have to use a Mom who cares for you. You have me, Henry." Henry hugs his Mom. She held Henry. "I love you, Mom.""I love you too, Henry.""Can I play?""Yes, you can. Just be careful.""I will." She watches Henry play. "Emma, is everything okay?""Yes. I got scared of Henry on the rock climb wall with the bars. I was so afraid that he would fall in between the bars." She sighs. "I am still getting used to having a 6-year-old kid.""You are doing great, Emma. You are worrying about him, which is your job as his Mom." Allison hugs her sister. Hope began crying. "Emma, someone wants her Mommy.""Hopey." She takes her daughter from her sister. "You are with Mommy." She patted her butt knowing she needed a diaper change. "You need a clean diaper." Connor began crying. "Allison, I think these two have enough of the park. Hope needs a clean diaper.""Barnes and Noble?""Yes. We need to get starbucks in there besides books.""Definitely."" I need to get Henry." She goes to find her son. "Henry, time for us to go.""Mom, can we stay longer?" Hope cried more. "Kid, your sister needs her diaper changed.""Okay.""We are going to Barnes and Noble. There is also a park by our house. We can go there to play.""Okay!" They walked to Barnes and Noble. Allison goes to Starbucks with Henry and Connor and gets a spot where the babies can walk in the children section. While Emma goes to the bathroom to change Hope's diaper. "You are getting cleaned, baby girl, do not cry." She changes Hope's diaper and returns to their children's section. Connor was walking around. "Mommy.""You are with me, sweetie. Let's go find your brother." She finds Henry looking at books. "Henry, did you find any books you like?" "I found this fairy tale series called The Land of Stories b Chris Colfer. Aunt Allison helped me read the title.There are 6 books.""That means it is a book series.""Can we buy them all?""How about we can get the first two books? So we will know it is a good series.""Okay! Can we start reading it now? Please?""Yes, we can." They sat down, Henry began reading, Ema helped him with the hard words. "Aunt Allison, the twin brother's name is Connor!""Awesome! Connor, you are in the book." Connor babbles and looks at the books. Emma continued to read with Henry, they took turns reading. Hope was interested in the book and babbles. "Mom, Hope wants to know what happens next. Right little sis?" Hope screams. Emma laughs. Allison was holding sleeping Connor, laughing with her sister. "High five little sis." They high-fived."Emma, they are enjoying the story?""Yes, they are.""We are already on chapter 6. Mom, can we please get the first 3 books."Emma pretends to think about it. "Yes!""Yes!!" Emma and Allison both laughed at Henry's excitement.After Barnes and Noble, they went to a diner called Hollywood Diner, nearby on 6 Avenue to get lunch. Henry ordered a burger and fries. Emma ordered a grilled cheese, with onion rings and cinnamon hot cocoa, and ordered Hope a hard-boiled egg, one plain toast, and blueberries. Allison ordered a small bowl of spaghetti for her son and ordered herself a bacon lettuce tomato sandwich with mayonnaise and a side of french fries. Emma nurses Hope with a cover on. Allison sets Connor in his high chair and faces her nephew. "Henry, what do you like to do for fun?" "I like playing with Legos and I like to draw with crayons. Dad is teaching me how to play soccer but he calls it football. We play in the backyard which is fun." "You are having a lot of fun with Dad.""Yes. I also have fun with Mom and Hope too. We watch Disney movies, DC movies, and read books. Hope and I play. She gives me a lot of hugs. I miss Dad."Emma knew Henry was sad. "Henry, after our Manhattan trip. I was thinking we can pick up your Dad at work.""We get to see Dad on his airplane?""Yes!"Henry hugs his Mom. "Awesome!" When their meals came, Emma gave Hope the plate of her finger food before eating hers. She made sure Henry had enough to eat. "Aunt Allison?""Yes?""How often do you sleepover at our house? Dad told me you two can talk for hours."Allison laughs. "We have sleepovers often.""Awesome! I can get to see you often with Connor." Hope fusses. "Hopey." She takes her daughter out of her high chair who was reaching out for Henry. "You want to sit with your brother?""Mom, she can sit next to me." Henry puts Hope next to him in the booth. "You are with me, little sis." Hope hugs her brother. Emma was in awe as she took a picture of her two kids. She gets a facetime call from Killian. "Hi, swan.""Hi, Killian. You got us on our lunchtime. We are in Manhattan.""Aye, how is Manhattan?""It is fun. We went to the park first and went to Barnes and Noble. How was your flight?""It was good. Not too rough since it was windy to Alaska. Where are Henry and Hope?""Right here." She shows him Hope hugging Henry. "Henry, Hope. Your Dad is on the phone." She passed the phone to her kids. "Dad!""Dada!" Emma and Allison both smile seeing Henry and Hope's reaction to see Killian on the iPhone."Dad, we went to a park, where Mom got afraid I was going to get hurt but I proved to Mom that I was not going to get hurt." "Lad, you have to be careful. Knowing your Mom, she only gets scared for a reason.""Okay, now I know. She told me." Hope babbles. "Mom bought me three books from a series.""That is great lad. I had a feeling you will have a fun day with your Mom and sister." Hope and Henry continue to talk to Killian. Hope began crying. "Mom, Dad had to go back to work.""Kid, your sister gets upset when your Dad has to go off Facetime.""Little sis,do you want a french fry?" He shows her a french fry which she takes. He kisses her on the head. "Henry, you got Hope to stop crying.""I have the big brother touch, Aunt Allison." Connor babbles. "And the big cousin touch." Emma and Allison both smile. She takes a picture of Henry and Hope together which she loves. Hope gave a face-eating her fry. "Mom, she does not like the french fry.""That is okay. She is still trying different food, kid." On the way back to Queens, Henry was fast asleep on Emma's shoulder as Hope was sleeping her carrier as Connor was fast asleep on his Momma's chest. "They are all asleep.""Yes, our day in the city with these three tired them out.""Emma, I can see how Henry fits in with our family.""Yes, he does.""He told me that his birthday is 5 days after Hope's.""Yes, my two babies have the same birthday week.""Disney trip still on?""Yes! We are going to surprise Henry with the Disney trip.""I will keep it a secret. The family vacation won't be the same without him.""After learning about his past, this trip will be his first real family vacation.""You told me the phone about his past, Emma. He is so lucky to have you and Killian as his parents.""When I found out, I just went into his room and hugged him. I just want to reassure him that he is safe and in a home full of love. We just reassure him that we have enough food in the house, or if one of us leaves we reassure him that we are coming back.""You are giving him a family full of love. He has two parents that love him and always there for him. He has a little sister who loves him and he makes happy. I just met him today and I fell in love with him. He has all of us.""He fits perfectly in our family.He is not going to be alone ever again. I cannot wait for him to be officially my adopted son."After a day in the city, they returned to the Swan-Jones house. Allison drove Emma, Henry, and Hope to JFK. When they were waiting at Killian's gate, Hope was crying and patting the glass window. "Dada! Dada!!" "Hope, he is coming home, little sis. Daddy's plane is landing very soon. Right Mom?""Right, Henry. His plane will land in a few minutes." She takes Hope from the glass window who was squirming out of her Mommy's arms. "Dada is coming home baby girl." Hope goes back to her spot and bangs the window. Emma sighs knowing this is the first of many of her daughter's tantrums.They see an airplane landing. "That is Daddy's plane, Hope." Henry gets closer to the window to see his Dad landing the airplane. After Killian said goodbyes to the passengers he was walking back to the airport. He sees his daughter banging on the window having a meltdown and hurried inside. He sees Emma and Henry first, he can read his swan's face; their daughter needed him. Henry goes to his Dad. "Dad!" He hugs his Dad. "I am happy that you are back. Hope has been crying for a while now, wanting you. Mom has been doing everything to calm her down.""Aye, I can tell. I have a feeling she will calm down in a few minutes."Killian goes to his swan and hugs her."Killian...""Hello, love." They kiss. "Henry told me. I know what to do." Killian goes to Hope. "Hope, you are going to break the window if you keep banging on it." Hope stops crying and sees her Daddy. "Dada!" Hope took wobbly steps to her Daddy. He cannot believe it Hope was taking her first steps towards him. Killian kneels down. "Come to Daddy!" "Dada!" Hope walks over to her Daddy and hugs him. He was smiling big, his daughter just had her first steps to him. Killian scooped his little daughter in his arms. "My little lass can walk!!" He spun her around. Emma was in awe and took a video on her iPhone. "Hope took her first steps!""Mom, Hope can walk!""Yes, she can, kid. She was crying to get your Dad here so she can walk to him." Killian carried Hope Emma and Henry. "Emma, we have a little walker.""Yes, we do." She faced her daughter. "Hope! You walked to Dada!!" Emma scooped Hope into her arms. "I am so proud of you baby girl!!" She lifted Hope up and down. "You can walk!""Dad, Mom and I figured out why Hope wanted you to come home so badly because she wanted to walk to you.""Aye,lad you are right." He hugs his son. Hope babbles. "Hope,do you want to walk to Mommy?" Hope babbles. " Killian gets Hpe from his swan who walks a short distance for Hope to walk. "Mom, can I record it on your iPhone?""Yes, you can." She gives her son her iPhone and kneels down onto the ground. "Come to Mommy, Hope!""Mommy!" Hope walks to her Mommy. Emma gives Hope a big hug and had happy tears that her daughter can walk. "You are walking, baby girl!" She carried Hope back to the boys. "Killian, we need to set up baby gates around the steps.""Aye, I can set them up soon.""Pretty soon, Hope will be walking everywhere.""Aye and causing mischief." "Hope, you can come to my room anytime, little sis.""Kid, we have to be careful with your legos so she won't eat them.""I will be careful, Mom. I can clean up after myself.""Swan, we can put them somewhere up high for her not able to reach.''"Dad, when can I see your airplane?""The next time you pick me up at work. Emma can bring you and Hope inside the airplane.""Awesome!" The family went to the parking lot. Emma straps Hope into her car seat. "Love, I can drive us home.""Are you sure?""I am sure." Killian drove his family home. Since they arrived home late, Hope was put to bed right away. Emma had dinner already cooked for her family. "Swan, something smells delicious.""I made a meatball baked for dinner.""I helped Dad.""It smells delicious and I am starving." They sat at the table and ate the biscuit covered with garlic and butter, marinara sauce, meatballs and mozzarella on top. "Mom, this is so good! Where did you find this recipe?'"On Pinterest." Killian helped Emma clean up after dinner. Henry returns downstairs in pajamas and his new book. "Dad! This is my new book!""That is great, lad." "Can we read before bed Mom? Please!""Okay, one chapter before bed." Emma reads with Henry in his bedroom as Killian takes a shower after a long day of flying. He was settling down for the night when he hears Hope crying and goes to her room. "Little love. Dada is here." He puts Hope on his chest. "Are you hungry?" Hope cries more. He takes her into Henry's room. "Emma, Hope is hungry.""I need to feed her.""Mom, the story.""Lad, I can read with you.""Okay." Emma takes Hope from Killian as he joined Henry in their bed "First tell me what you read so far," Henry tells him what he had read so far about how the twins Alex and Connor Bailey, fall into a fairytale book and met Froggy. The twins are on a quest from a journal to find items for a wishing sell to get them home. Killian helped his son read until henry fell asleep in his arms. "Good night, lad. I love you." He kisses him on the head. He loves having a son and he knows that they will be very close father and son. He is happy to be a father of son and daughter. Emma took Hope into her room to breastfeed her daughter. She enjoyed her day out with both of her children and still getting used to parenting a 6-year-old son. She loves being a mom to both Henry and Hope. Henry meeting Allison and Connor, proves to her more that he fits perfectly in their family. Hope fusses. "Sweetie, are you full?" She nurses Hope on the other breast and burps Hope. She rocked her in the rocking chair. "You are my sunshine My only sunshine,You make me happy, When sky's are grey, You'll never know, dear, How much I love you, Please don't take my sunshine away. She kisses Hope on the head. "I love you so much, Hope. You are my baby girl."
