Sonogram

Killian let Emma slept in as much as possible since she needs the extra sleep and she is pregnant. Killian got up early as usual did. He kisses his wife on the head and went downstairs to cook breakfast. He shovels the snow that came last night. He made something light and healthy for Emma to eat since she been having bad morning sickness lately. He knew when Emma was up because he heard the toilet constantly flushing from her morning sickness. He pours her a cup of ice cold ginger ale and got her wet rag and brings it up to her. He rubs her back as she pukes her guts out. When she stops for the moment, Emma leans against Killian. He holds her and gives her the wet rag. Out of breath."Thank you." She drinks the ginger ale.
"Your welcome love."
"I just feel awful."
He massages her shoulders and back. "I know love." After Emma was finished with her morning sickness she got ready for the day. Emma wore a long sleeve and jeans. She rubs her abdominal, "Mommy cannot wait to see you on the sonogram baby." She kisses her hand and places on her abdominal. She goes downstairs and takes a whiff of Killian's breakfast and heads straight to the bathroom and pukes. "Killian are you ready?"
"Yes, I am love." They kiss. Killian made sure Emma got to their car safely because it just snowed last night. "Love, I have something for you." He hands her dried toast and fruit salad.
"Thank you. I needed to eat something without getting sick."
"Your welcome. You need to eat, especially for the babe."
"Yes, I need to eat but this little one is not making it easy."
"Aye. Let's go see our little one on the sonogram."
"Yes."
When they arrived at the office. Emma was nervous. Killian holds her hand. "Emma, I am going to be with you. Remember you are not alone this time." Emma takes a deep breath and signs in and sit next to Killian to wait to be called in. "Emma Swan-Jones."
Emma and Killian followed the nurse into an office. "Hi, Emma. I am Dr. Ellen Smith."
"Hi, nice to meet you. I am here to confirm my pregnancy."
"When was your last period?"
"Two months ago."
"Emma you can go next door and change into a gown. I will be there when you are ready." Killian stayed with Emma when she changed. "Are you alright love?"
"Just hold my hand the whole time."
"Of course, Emma." They kiss. Killian opened the door for the Dr.Smith.
Dr.Smith enters. "Emma, is this your first pregnancy?"
Killian held Emma's hand, "No. I had a miscarriage when I was almost seventeen. Now, we have been married for five years and I am ready to have a child."
"How old are you?"
"I am 27 years old."
"Let me examine you." Emma put her legs in the stirrups. Killian holds Emma's hands. He whispers, "Emma I am right here." She lessens her nerves a little bit just knowing her Killian was with her.
"Emma, you are 7 weeks pregnant, congratulations."
Emma smiled. "I really am?!"
"Yes, you are. I am going to do a sonogram." Dr.Smith put gel on Emma's abdominal and use the doppler to find Emma's baby. "There is your baby, right there." She pointed out where their baby was and listened to the baby's heartbeat. Emma and Killian both had tears falling down on their faces."I will develop pictures for both of you." She gives Emma a tissue to wipe off the gel.
"Killian that is our little baby."
"Yes, Emma. That is our babe growing inside of you."
"I love you, Killian."
"I love you, Emma." They kiss. Killian goes up to the sonogram machine and touches where their little baby was.
Emma rubbed her little abdominal. "Mommy and Daddy see you on the sonogram machine. We love you so much, little baby."
"Aye, we do." He kisses her abdominal.
Dr.Smith returns to them with sonogram pictures. "Emma, your due date is August 25th. Do you have any questions for me?"
"Yes, I am having a lot of morning sickness. Is there any way that I can make it stop?"
Dr.Smith smiles. "You cannot stop morning sickness, Emma, you can lessen it by eat little and often, eat protein snacks like nuts, cold meals can be better for nausea, eat in bed like a small snack so you do not go rushing to vomit on an empty stomach, stay hydrated between meals, get plenty of rest and relaxation, drink lemon or ginger to help you with nausea, and take your vitamins, which I have a prescription for you."
"Is the baby healthy?"
"Yes, Emma. Your baby is healthy."
Killian holds Emma's hand. "I..I just to make sure because I didn't know I was pregnant for the first until I had my miscarriage." Emma started crying onto Killian and he comforts her.
"Emma, it is okay love."
"I am sorry." Dr.Smith gives Emma tissues for her tears.
Dr.Smith waited until Emma calmed down."Emma from the sound of it, your first pregnancy was unplanned?"
"Yes, definitely. I was in the foster system. I had to run away from the system because it was awful. I was homeless at sixteen and I was attacked and raped...I had no idea about protection or unsafe sex...I did not have an OB/GYN doctor..just the miscarriage, I had no idea that I was pregnant until.." Emma cries onto Killian again. Dr.Smith held Emma's hand. "Emma, you have come so far. I know you are going to be a great mother to your baby. I will help you with your pregnancy to make sure you and your baby are safe including with the help of your very supportive husband."
"Aye, I been supportive of her since we met in flight school."
"Yes, I got my GED, went to community college and attended flight school. We used to work together on the same plane when I was a flight attendant. Since I found out that I was pregnant, I switched jobs to check in. Flying is not safe for the baby. I want my baby to be safe."
"Emma, you already made the safe and smart choice as a mom to be, thinking of the baby first."
"I just want a healthy pregnancy and baby."
"Emma, you will. As long you do not drink, smoke or heavy lifting while pregnant. You have to eat healthily, take your pregnancy vitamins , get a lot of rest and not to be stressed." Dr.Smith hands her a few pamphlets. "Emma read through these, it will help."
"Thank you, Dr.Smith. Being pregnant for me is emotionally challenging than hormonal."
"Emma you were traumatized by your first pregnancy and the miscarriage, of course, you would be scared and nervous now. Your husband and I will help you with your pregnancy. You have to remember you are not alone."
"Thank you again."
"Your welcome, Emma. If you have any concerns call me. I will see you next month." Dr.Smith leaves the room.
Killian rubs Emma around her shoulders. "Are you feeling a bit better love?"
"Yes. Just talking about it with you and my doctor about makes me feel better about this pregnancy."
"Aye. we will make sure our babe is healthy."
"Yes. Let's go grocery shopping on the way home too."
"Aye, we need to make sure you eat healthy to the baby."
"Yes. I love our first pictures of the baby."
"Aye, I am going to put it on the plane."
"Yes, you can show Gus your co-captain that you are going to be a Daddy." They kissed. Emma booked her next appointment. After Emma's appointment they went grocery shopping and on the way home, Emma could not stop looking at the sonogram. "Can we go cloth shopping?"
Killian sighs. "Killian, I am not going to fit in my clothes that I am wearing now, soon. My body will change. It is for the baby."
"Love, we can." Killian drove Emma to the Queens Center mall so she can shop in the maternity wear store. Killian went with her. He could not help but smile as she was shopping around the store very happily. Killian carried Emma's shopping bags of maternity wear, of clothes and jeans to wear when her body changes. Emma went to the baby store next. She got a gender-neutral gray onesie for the baby saying "I'm new here." "Killian look what I found!" Killian smiles at the onesie for the baby with airplanes on them. "Swan that will be perfect for the babe."
"I know right." They walked the mall. "I can imagine bringing the baby to work and you showing the baby how you drive the plane."
"Emma, I am looking forward to that." He rubs her abdominal and she smiles. "Little love, when you are bigger Daddy will show you his plane. Mommy cannot be on planes until you arrive little love." Emma drank water and bought a smoothie from the food court. "Killian, I am just cannot help thinking, what are we going to do when the baby is born, I mean we both work."
Killian holds her hand. "Emma, if you want to stop work for the first year of the baby's life you can, to enjoy your time with the lass or lad. We can manage."
"I will help you with the babe all the time."
"I know you will, you are excited as I am or maybe even more." They both laughed. Emma rubs her soon to be a baby bump. "I cannot wait to be a mommy. I am scared, I have no idea how to be one since I never had good parents. I want to be the best Mom because I love him or her already."
"Love you and I both will be great parents to this little one." "I know I am going to be a better parent than any foster families that I lived in, I am going to be the opposite mom, a nice, loving caring mommy."
"Emma you are a wonderful, caring person now."
"Yes, do you remember how I was walled up in flight school?"
"Aye, then I broke your walls and you opened up."
"Yes, I was 19 when we first met. I graduated from community college early. I did not expect to meet you my true love in flight school."
"Aye, I too love." Emma leans on him and he kisses her on the head. "Are you ready to go home now?"
"Yes, I just want to sleep."
When they returned home, Killian carried most of the shopping bags, Emma carried the baby clothes bag inside. Emma walked upstairs, choosing the room for the baby. Killian sees her looking. He goes up to her and hugs her from behind and kisses her on the head. "Love, what are you thinking?"
"How can you tell?"
"Emma, you are an open book love."
Emma smiles. "Well, captain. I was thinking this room will be the baby's room in the next seven months."
"Aye. We should start planning out the nursery."
"Yes, we should be based on the baby's gender."
"When should we announce to our friends about the babe?"
"Just for safety precautions and besides our boss Mike, we can announce to everyone else after I am three months pregnant. With this being my second pregnancy...I might be showing a little sooner than later."
"We would do our best to try not to make it too obvious."
"Yes, now I know what to do in the morning before work and during work to try to control the morning sickness."
"Love, I will help you, you know that."
Emma smiles and places her hand where her child lays, "Yes, the baby and I know that." They kiss. "I have been thinking, to take time off before the baby comes during my third trimester..maybe we can do a little babymoon trip before the baby comes."
"Love, I love that idea. Not too far."
"I know that I can fly on planes before 36 weeks, so maybe when I am 7 to 8 months pregnant."
"We can plan on that. I am also taking maternity relief time around the baby's due date so I can be with you when the time comes."
"Yes, I would love extra alone time with you before the baby comes." Emma starts crying. "I don't even know why I am crying right now."
"Emma, you are going to be very emotional."
"Yes, I do not have control over my body or my emotions."
"It is okay, love." He hugs her and rubs her back. "You will get through it. It is the baby making you moody."
"Yes, I know. I love this little baby already."
"Aye. I love our little one too." Emma goes into their room change into a sweatshirt and places the sonogram photo of their baby on her night stand. Emma takes a very needed nap. Killian puts Emma's shopping bags in their closet. He whispers to the baby, "Baby this is your Daddy. Daddy and mommy love you so so much already. We cannot wait to meet you in the summer. Mommy had a rough childhood and she will do anything to make you are safe, happy and she loves you so much already. All I am saying is we will give you everything. Your Mom had a bad childhood and having you is her most precious gift, someone to love her constantly besides your handsome Daddy which Mommy and Daddy love now and always. We cannot wait to meet you, little love." He gently kisses Emma's abdominal and lets Emma sleep. Emma smiles because she heard the whole conversation between her adoring husband and their baby, she is so grateful for her loving husband. She cannot wait to be a mommy to this baby and raising him or her with Killian, which is the best adventure of their life together as a family.
