You lifted yourself up and was unhurt from the fall but when you saw Nathan your eyes widen and your started panicking, "Nathan! You're bleeding!"
"I'm fine" Nathan reassured you.
You stared, gaping at his leg that seemed like it was splitting open. There was a 5 inch cut on his calf probably caused by one of the jagged rocks when he shielded you from the fall. You looked back and forth from him and his leg, not knowing what to do. And what more, the sun was already setting and night would soon come. The both of you sure aren't planning to stay in the mountains for the night.
"You're not fine! Loo--" You started to say but was cut off, "I'm fine. You're ok right? Come on, we should get going and try to get back" He suggested and was already in the process of trying to stand up. You tried to argue but the latter was already determined, not changing his mind. You just ended up giving him a hand.
With his arm hanging over your shoulder and yours strap to his waist, you supported him so that he was able to walk a little sturdier. Nathan let out out a grimace with every step. You were being extra careful so that he wouldn't put any pressure on his injured leg.
But after all those effort, his leg gave out causing him to fall back down with a loud thud. You gasp, "NATHAN! Are you ok?!" He didn't reply but only let out a growl. "Idiot. Idiot. Why did you do that if you're going to get injure like this?" You started hitting his chest. Tears were already filling up to the brim in your eyes and were threatening to spill out at any moment.
Your heart sanked seeing him like this. The happy and caring person that you always see was gone and replace with a hurt and injured Nathan because of you. It was your fault. Finally, your arms fell to your side and you hung your head low.
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry for everything" Not able to hold anything back, you allowed the tears to finally flow down your face. They dripped down onto the ground and seemed like they would endlessly fall if Nathan hadn't brought his hand up to wipe them all away for you.
"Hey, stop... Crying. It's o-okay. It's okay" He repeated over and over through the pain. But seeing your crying face and the way your voice cracked when you were talking had pained him even more. His heart ached seeing you this way, knowing that he was the one that caused your tears to fall.
*Please keep smiling Luna* He thought as he stared at your face affectionately.
Finally calming down, you put on a serious face. Ripping out the sleeve of your shirt, you carefully tied it around the cut and made sure that it wasn't too tight so the area wouldn't get infected. You had told yourself that when you both got back to the camp, you would make sure that his leg would get the correct treatment that it needs. But for now, this was the best that you could do.
Once again, you helped Nathan up and he bit down on his lips to endure the pain that was shooting up his thighs to the point that he was drawing blood. It was already nightfall and fortunately for the two of you it wasn't completely dark since the stars was shining brightly in the sky.
As both of you walked through the forest hoping to stumble onto a familiar place and the path that you've took. The nocturnal animal were awake. Hoo-ing from owls came from every directions. Sounds from even some birds chirping and their wings flapping in the air.
Something ran across your feet making you jumped up with terror, "ACK!! WHAT IS THAT?!" You screamed at the top of your lungs. Nathan laughed and squeezed your hand. "You're gonna wake up half of the country." He teased but pulled you closer to his side, "Come on, i think i see something bright up ahead"
Walking passed a couple of more trees and underlying bushes, the two of you stumbled onto a big entrance sign that said 'Hot Spring Up Ahead'.
Your eyes widen and couldn't believe what you were seeing. Rubbing your orbs, you blinked several times to make sure that the night wasn't getting to your head. *No this isn't an illusion. I can't believe we found the hot spring!!* You squealed inside your head.
After a long little walk, the door of the hot spring came into view and you excitedly opened it, helping Nathan inside too of course. A middle age woman sat at the front desk welcoming you.
"Hello, it seems pretty late for you guys to walk through the mountain. Is everything ok?" The woman looked Nathan up and down, stopping at his injuries on his leg where the blood had already seeped through your sleeve that you did for him. She had a concern look on her face.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you this late. We kinda got lost but stumbled onto your hot spring. I was hoping that you could treat my friend?" You stared at her waiting for an answer. Without hesitation, she urged you guys to come into the back.
Nathan, following her directions, sat down on the chair. She took out a first aid kit and started cleaning his wounds. You watch with a worried heart. Seeing the pain expressions flashed through Nathan's face was enough to make you all jittery.
"You guys can stay here for the night. We have one room left available. But for now," The woman turned to look at you, "You should check out the hot spring if you would like. I'll make sure that your friend here is fine"
You started shaking your head, wanting to object the suggestion but even Nathan himself nodded for you to go. "Go, i'll be fine" He smiled with that soft expression of his. You hesitantly nodded but had no other choice when the owner handed you the key to the available room and an extra set of clothing to change into when you were done.
Good thing that you were the only one that was in the hot spring or you would've been scared and too shy to even step foot inside. You dipped yourself into the hot, soothing water. It felt like you could melt any minute. The water calmed you down and erased your mind from any thoughts. You sighed and wished that everyday would be like this.
After about thirty minutes of soaking in the heavenly water, you decided that it was time to get back since you guessed it was really late. Making your way to the room from before, you fished out your keys and was in an attempt to use it but noticed that it was already unlock.
"Nathan! You're still up! How's your leg doing?" You rushed over to his side and examined it. It had gauze wrapped all around it and it had seemed like the latter was feeling better too.
He giggled and ruffled your hair, "It's feeling great already so stop worrying ok?"
"Saying that just makes me worry even more" You pouted cutely. A yawn escaped your lips and Nathan noticed that it's been a long day and you were probably tired. "Here use the bed, i'll take the couch" He offered.
There was really only one big bed in the room. Your face was already going red just thinking about sharing a bef together. But there was no other choice. "Noo. Your leg's still not in a good condition, and i don't want you to sleep on the couch because of my sake"
His eyes widen, not believing what you're saying. Without him even saying a thing, you just nodded and rushed to the bed, jumping in and hiding yourself under the cover. Your back faced his side with the blanket covering half of your face.
You could feel the weight of the bed dip to one side when he was getting on to lay down. With your back touching each others, it seemed like the room had gotten hotter. Your face was red as a tomato and you were glad that he wasn't able to see it. He gulped and knew that this was going to be a very long and exhausted night. As for the both of you? Yours and his heart was beating at the same pace. A 100 mph. You wince at how your heart felt like it would leap out of your chest any moment.
The heat radiating from his back was felt onto yours. But somehow, it was a comforting feeling.
"Hey... Thanks for today. Thanks for forgiving me" He whispered with a wide grin on his face. With no response, he propped himself up a little but didn't dare to turn around. "Luna?" Hearing your calm breathing, he knew you were already fast asleep.
"Goodnight Luna..."
