"Honey, it's time for lunch!!" Your mom, Jenny, called from the kitchen. Your four years old self skipped over with a big smile on your little cute, chubby face. You bounced around in your blue floral dress that your mom had dressed you in this morning.
"Lunch time~" You squealed and ran up to hug your mom's slender legs. Your mom giggled at how cute her daughter was being and felt extremely lucky to be able to give birth to such a wonderful person.
"Luna, can you call your father from the office? He's always working" She crouched down and straightened your long hair and bangs. You obediently nodded and ran off into the room that was stationed next to the living room.
The door was closed but that wasn't a problem for you. You went on your tippy toe, stretched yourself out, with little difficulties you manage to open the door with a click. Peering inside, you saw your dad, Kenny, with his usual reading glasses on. You never understood why he wear those things only in his office but not outside. Maybe he was just trying to keep it away from you. His face was buried in a pile of paperwork from the place that he tell you call 'work'. And he was still in his clothes that you saw him wear this morning in bed.
You slowly walked in and crawled under his chair. He pretended that he didn't see you and tried his best to hold in his laughter and return back to his work. You jumped up, trying to scare him, and yelled, "BOOO!"
"AHHHH!" He faked a scream and clutched his heart. "Did i scare you daddy?" You felt proud of yourself and pat your back. "You almost killed me." Your dad laughed and lifted you onto his lap. "Now what is my precious little girl doing in here?"
"Mommy said it was time for lunch! Come on daddy! My sandwich is waiting for me!" You pulled on his sleeve, wanting him to hurry and take you back to the kitchen. "Well we wouldn't want to keep you away from your sandwich" He laughed and carried you out of the room.
With you in your chair, your mom and dad sat on both side making you sit on the end of the table. "Here you go. You're favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich" Your mom handed you the sandwich and you happily took it. Taking several bites, your mouth was already stuffed from the amount of food, but surprisingly you were still able to fit more.
"Thunk ku mammie!" You tried to say but it just came out as incoherent words. Your dad laughed and ruffled your hair at your already chubby cheeks becoming even more chubbier. "Eat slowly honey! You'll choke!" Your mom scolded.
You nodded and stopped to only swallow the remaining pieces of the food in your mouth until starting up the cycle once again. When all of the sandwich was all in your full stomach, you hopped off the chair and like how your mom taught you, you brought the dirty plate you ate over the sink.
"Aww my baby did soo well!" Your mom praised. She took one of the clean, wet towel by the sink and wiped your messy face into a clean and ladylike one.
"Mom can i go outside now?" You begged. "Since you were being a very good girl, yes. But stay in the back of our house and Nathan's ok?" You eagerly nodded and ran in the direction of the back door leading to the backyard that was connected to Nathan's (your bestfriend) backyard.
"Be back in an hour!!" Your mom yelled in the background.
You were glad that your parents had taken off the fence that divided yours and Nathan's house so now the both of you could freely play.
"Hey Luna! You came out earlier than usual" Nathan popped up from behind.
He stared at your pretty dress. He always loved it when you wear these kinds of things instead of your jeans and just a t-shirt. You could call it just a little crush from a kid to a kid. But to him, this was something real and he believed that it could developed into something more.
You smiled cutely and waved at Nathan whom was just a few inches taller than you. "I ate lunch faster to play with you!"
"Hey i have an idea, how about we go and get some icecream?" Nathan suggested.
"But... Mommy said i have to stay here"
"Don't worry! You'll be back soon!"
You thought over it. But all you were thinking about was icecream. You quickly agreed. Nathan grabbed your hand and let you crawled put of the hole in the fence that they had found before crawling through himself.
The sun was already started going down as the sky turned into an orangish red color. Your mom looked out of the window of the house with a worried heart. She set her book she was reading down and knew that something was wrong.
Not hearing the pages of the books flipping, her husband became curious. "Baby? What is it?" Kenny asked while his attention was still cleaning the cabinets.
"It's getting late and Luna hasn't came back yet.. Do you think--?" She started but was stopped right away, "Don't be silly. Luna's a good little girl, she wouldn't do anything without asking first."
"You're right. But i'll just check on her just in case" She said and got off her chair, practically running over to the back door. Looking out the window to an empty backyard, her eyes widen in fear.
"KENNY! SHE'S GONE!!" Your mom screamed the most wretched scream. "WHAT?! Are you sure?" Kenny ran over to double check but nothing had changed. "What do i do?! I can't lose her. I can't. She's everything to me!"
"Baby.. BABY! Calm down and think this through. Where could she be?"
"The park! She love that place to death!" She remembered how you love to always slide down that tiny slide and it never got old. How your angelic laugh filled their ears and lifted their hearts with happiness when they saw you running around, enjoying yourself to the fullest.
Kenny instantly turned on the engine as your mom followed suit. They speed down the road, anxiously looking for any sign of anywhere you could be. Your mom's eyes was already threathen to burst with a waterfall of tears any minute. But she tried her best to hold it in.
Suddenly, from the other side of the road, the sound of screeching tires and loud engine could be heard. It sounded like a car gone rouge. But your parents just ignore it since finding you was there first and only priority right now. But the next thing they knew, they were being thrown back into their seat from the intense collision. The car spun several times before stopping on the side of the road. With the front totally damage from both cars with smoke, people were already dialing 911. Your dad was long gone on the first impact. Your mom groaned and blinked. Everything was hazy and she could feel something dripping down her head. Blood.
"Nathan... Take good care.. Of her..." She whispered before she closed her eyes.
Meanwhile, you and nathan were happily walking back home, hand in hand and sharing an icecream cone. Vanilla on one side and the other chocolate. You licked the vanilla and a wide grin spread on your face.
"Yum!! Nathan! Thank you for the ice cream!" You said. "No problem" He shyly said, a hint of pink on his cheeks.
When both of you reached your house, someone familiar stood on the front porch. "Granny!!" You ran towards and gave her a hug. "Luna..." Her voice was sad but you didn't seem to notice.
"Come on, we have to go somewhere" Granny lifted you up in her arms.
Without knowing you were about to go to your parents funeral, you innocently smiled and grabbed Nathan's hand, bringing him along.
