The weather forecaster predicted that it would be raining all week. Nathan brought along his blue umbrella just in case the weather turns ugly. He was making his way to school.
Sadly, you weren't by his side. Late last night, you picked up a fever and it only worsened by this morning. His mom called in work and asked for a sick leave and volunteered to stay home to take care of you. Nathan himself wanted to stick close to your side until you got better but his mom didn't allow it.
So he got pushed out of the house by his own mother and here he was, walking the same route he has taken since the beginning of the year, alone. The big building of the school could be seen from the distance as he came closer. Even with all of the drama yesterday, it was a normal day.
He went to his locker then to his first class of the day. Before he could put is foot pass the door frame of the class, he was immediately pulled back. Nathan double back and quickly caught his balance. "What do you think you're doing?!" He was about to burst out with all of the anger bottled up in him right at that moment if he hadn't notice that it was Zane.
Zane put his hands up in defense and backed away a bit, "Whoah sorry. I just wanted to talk." Nathan rubbed the back of his head, looking embarrassed. "Sorry i didn't know it was you."
"So can we talk?" Zane repeated the question. Nathan nodded and followed Zane over to a secluded area. But no one was in the hallway anyways because the first class of the day had already started. "What is it that's so important that you pull me from class?"
The look on Zane's face was serious as he uttered the three words, "Where is Luna?!" It was something more important than class. Nathan knew that Zane care a lot about you and so does he. He put a hand on Zane's shoulder and squeezed it just a little to ease up his tension. "I'm not sure..." He answered, unsure.
"What do you mean you're not sure? Tell me what happened!" Zane demanded. He looked like he could punch someone right now with just knowing that you might not be ok.
"Hey calm down. She's safe at my house. But because of yesterday's rain, she caught a fever." Nathan explained and watched as Zane's eyes bulged out of its sockets. "And you left her there?! Alone?! Are you crazy? That girl is prone to catching colds!" Zane started asking him a bunch of question and nagging him on why he was here instead of taking care of you.
Nathan flicked his forehead to tell him to shut up. "I'm not stupid. My mom is home taking care of her. I care about her too you know" *You don't know how much i care for her* Nathan thought.
Zane let out a huge sigh and felt more relief than he was last night pacing back and forth in his bedroom. "Take me to her" Zane told Nathan. "What?!" "I said, take me to her. I need to check on her" Zane repeated, sounding a little more impatient.
"Ok... Come with me" Nathan said after he glance back and forth from his class to Zane.
The two of them start walking out of the school. Luckily Nathan brought along his umbrella because like the weather man predicted, it was pouring rain. He unwrapped his umbrella and hover it above both of their heads, shielding them from the rain as they walked towards Nathan's house.
It was difficult trying not to get each other wet. Both of their shoulders were pretty broad, it kept bumping each other as they walk under the small umbrella that was only meant for one person. People that pass them snickered or made little comments. They just hung their head low and tried not to get notice. But two guys sharing one umbrella already looked odd enough.
"Move over! My hair is getting wet!" Zane complained. He pushed Nathan out from under the small shield, making him get wet instead. Zane laughed and settle - comfortably - under the umbrella by himself.
