Double Check

*Gale POV*

After Peeta and I were sepertated I was taken down to the first level in the hospital, the ER, to get my bloody nose taken care of. I lie down flat on the hospital bed and the wait for the doctor to come in, but instead a nurse does.

"Hello I'm Nurse Atom," he says facing the wall putting his gloves on," I will be taking care of-oh. Gale is it?"

Just the person I dont want to see. During the first half of the time I'm with him, its quiet. Until he starts the conversation."You got hit pretty hard."

"I know." My voice sounds awkward since he has it plugged.

"Why didn't you hit him back?" He asks.

"For one, had every right too, I got his wife pregnant."

He laughs,"No you didn't. I just said that to tick off the 'mockingjay'"

"Excuse me?''

"Yeah, you heard me."

"Why would you do that!" I yell, but blood just falls down my throat and makes me choke.

"She killed my mother." He says coldly,

"Look I don't know what this is about, but this is wrong! You could loose your job for this." He finishes my bandages.

He laughs,"Who is going to tell?" Then walks out.

*Peeta POV*

I sit in a hospital room rocking back and forth on a bed. I haven't been admitted, I'm just being observed.

I can't recall what happened but I know Gale is in the ER.

My name is Peeta mellark

I'm not in the capitol

I married Katniss

I have kids

I've been repeating that in my head since I've regained consciousness, of myself. That mutt has been put away... For now.

I am hooked up to a pulse and machine. It goes on my thumb and goes off whenever my pulse gets to high, letting the doctors know I'm agitated.

A doctor steps in the room. I stand up and he backs up.

"Its okay. I'm fine now." I say.

"Okay good. Peeta-"

"Can I leave now?"

"Not till we now that you aren't a danger to the general public, your wife, or your son."

"Its not my son..."

"What?"

"I said in not the father."

"Yes you are! I ran the test myself, I just gave it to Nurse Atom to give to you guys."

"That mother-" I start but I don't finish. I need to tell Katniss.

"Ugh, thanks for watching me, I'm better now promise I need to go."

I run to the door and open it, but two guards stand on my way.

"Let him through, boys." They do as they are told, and I run through the halls, to the elevator, and Katniss' door. But I see Gale about to open the door until he sees me.

"Gale!"

"Peeta!" We say at the same side.

"Your not the father,Gale."

"You're the father Peeta," we say at the same time.

"Listen!" We say at the same time once more.

"Look!" I say,"I'm the dad!"

"I know! I was coming up to tell Katniss."

"Let's both go." I suggest. I open the door and see Katniss staring at the wall. Blankly, reminds me of Annie.

*Katniss POV*

Gale and Peeta have just entered my room, but I pay no attention to them. I don't need tears or apologies right now.

"Katniss?" Gale asks. "Katniss I have to tell you something. The-"

"Get. Out." I say calmly.

"No Katniss you are going to want to hear this." Peeta says.

I look at him. Straight at him, farther than his eyes; In his sole. "Then you tell me."

"Katniss, I'm the father."

I sit straight up but my lower body wasn't ready for it. It starts to burn and I groan out. Both of them rush to my side and they both reach for the same hand.

"Don't touch me Gale." I hiss.

"What did you say Peeta?" I ask.

"I'm the father. Not Gale the baby is mine."

I pull him into a long hard hug,"I wish you told me earlier!"

"Why they both ask." I already signed his birth certificate. It says Rye Hawthorn."

Haha I'm just playing with everyone's feelings today. I wasn't going to do this but Lisa4523 gave me an idea for this #plotwist... So for all those Everlark people, thank her.
