The day after the Masquerade was a hectic one. The day was surrounded with annoyance from everywhere Y/N went, someone was talking about the fight that happened. Someone was spreading rumours of what happened, which for what Y/N heard were the complete opposite of the truth. And someone, was calling after her and asking if she was okay, or calling after her saying she deserved it for calling her names. Most likely Isabella had tried to ruin her reputation, by spreading rumours of her calling her names.

On the plus side, the bruise was more tolerable. She could talk without spikes of pain randomly, even move her jaw on command without much pain.
Dream also became more protective, which just added onto the gossiping girls and their theories. He always had someone keeping an eye on her, if it was a passing guard or him himself. At least a pair of eyes were on her the whole time, and anyone who approached her. And if she ended up getting angry, Dream was there to talk with her about it and ask what the person said.

Y/N knew he was doing this, and she knew he kept his boundaries. Like when she was in her room, nothing was watching her. When she was in a private place, nobody was watching her. When the girl said she didn't want to talk about it, he didn't overstep. Dream even asked if it was okay once she asked him about it.

But today was Monday, the second day after the big event that happened Saturday. It was another of those days which each one of the Princess's that remain have an hour with the Prince.

Y/N asked if they could bake. Dream thought it was a joke at first but when he realised she was serious, he thought about it, then thinking it would be fun. The girl was picked last, Dream said he only did that so they could have more then an hour together.
So now they were in the grand kitchen, the chef's put out what they needed to bake a cake on the counters where it was easier for them to access.

Dream leaned against the counter, the box of baking powder in hand as he was reading the box. Y/N was trying to remember a recipe her mother taught her.
"Do you even know how to bake a cake?" He sighed, placing the box back down and pushing himself off the counter.

"Yes- Kind of" Y/N changed her answer with a frustrated sigh,
"I'm pretty sure we have some recipe books somewhere" Dream tutted, going to look in the cabinets for what he was looking for.

Y/N put her head on the counter, whining about how she couldn't remember the most simplistic recipe ever. Dream looked up to see her sulking, taking a brown book with little tabs sticking out from one of the cupboards.
"Recipes are hard to remember if you haven't done it in a while," He slid the book on the marbled counter and flipped through the pages,

He sighed as she continued to be grumpy. Reaching out his hand to hold her chin to turn it to him, "It's not my problem that your an idiot. Now will you help me?" He said, she batted his hands away and straightening herself out.

"You're so mean." Y/N continued to whine, but actually starting to help.
"I love you" He cooed, "As a friend" Dream added after he saw Y/N's confused face,

They got to work to find the perfect cake for them to bake, which took half an hour on it's own. Dream read over her shoulder as moved the pages. Once they did find the cake, he remembered it was the cake his mother usually always made for him. This book wasn't touched since with his knowledge.

The whole making process of the batter was a pain. First of all they put all the wrong measurements for the first batch, so they had to do it all over again. Dream was also being a pain towards the girl, not passing her the ingredients when she asked and just being bad with the the spoon. But it was really fun for the two,

Dream was in charge of the icing while she did the batter, it was an attempt for her to focus without him keeping on asking her questions. It didn't work.
"Try this" It broke her from thought as he put some icing on her nose,

"You didn't have to put it on my nose you dimwit" Y/N put down the equipment and taking the icing off her nose, swiping it in her mouth for the taste. Dream laughed his iconic laugh, moving away to place the bowl back on the counter. "Taste's nice" She complemented, pouring the batter into the baking tins and placing it in the oven, putting the time on the timer. He smiled proudly. The fire in the oven didn't help the voices though,

The wait was fun as well, Y/N sat on the counter while Dream leaned on it beside her. They just talked about the castle, Y/N expressed the want of punching Isabella, making Dream chuckle with uncertainty. Dream talked about the cake they were making and his parent, she felt sympathy.

Then the timer interuppted the conversation, her jumping off the cold marble and to the oven, slipping on some oven gloves in the process. Taking the cake out the oven, and using a tooth pic to check if it was cooked.

30 minutes later of just random talking and some joking arguments. The cake was cold enough to decorate, plastering some icing on the sponge and getting it everywhere. Y/N felt bad about the chefs and maids that had to clean it up after, so she cleaned it as she went.

And the cake was finished minutes later, Dream had the first slice due to Y/N still cleaning. It tasted just as his mother used to make it, making him smile even more.
