After my long conversation with Marin, I headed back home. I opened the front door and began to head upstairs. I sat down with a sigh and took the Master Sword off my back then began taking off my boots. I peered out the window to make sure Epona was all good. I laid on my back and everything soon became dark. The nightmare I had the night before, began to make its return.
I stood in shallow water surrounded by darkness with a lone tree in the distance. As I hesitantly walked towards it, I could hear footsteps that weren't mine. I quickly turned around but there was no one in sight. I repositioned myself towards the tree. Once I got within a few feet of the tree, I heard a sword leaving its sheath as I instinctively went for mine. I turned towards the noise to see who or what it had come from. Someone who looked exactly like me stood a few feet away with his sword at the ready. Instead of the traditional green tunic, he wore one that was all black. Its glowing red eyes could pierce a person's soul. What the hell? He then rushed towards me and swung his sword. I brought my own sword forward and blocked his attack. After a few more exchanges, I realized that this was a fairly even match. This dark version of me had my swordsman skills and knew my every move. I knew it could be the end of me if I was ever caught off guard. My hesitation and fear of this figure began to grow as our swords clashed once again. It caused me to falter and appear vulnerable for just a moment. However, this was just enough to give him the upper hand. He came up behind me and stuck his sword into my side. I released my sword, fell to my knees, and clutched my side. Damn it! It was painful but a lot worse has happened. I reached for my sword and used it to help myself stand up. I can't let this thing kill me. This is not how I want to die. As I readied myself for another round, I stumbled providing a perfect opening for Dark Link to attack again. This time he went for my leg, he slashed the side of it causing me to completely fall to the ground. Gah! He had finally done it, he had finally pissed me off. He jumped on top of me, pinning me onto the ground, and placed his sword against my throat. He finally spoke "Legendary hero? Ha! You can't even beat yourself!" As he continued to monologue, I noticed that my sword was within reaching distance. Once he was distracted, I reached for it and drove it into him with every bit of energy that I had left. He looked at me in shock then fell onto me. I pushed him off and remained wincing in pain. As my vision began to fade, I saw a glimpse of blonde hair.
