Everything happened so fast that it took me a moment to process what had happened. I looked down and noticed that a tree, slightly bigger than my hand, was lodged just below my rib cage. I cried out in pain as I started to get light-headed. I realized that I wasn't going to last much longer. I tried to pull it out of me but at that point, I had lost my strength. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Link running towards me. When he arrived next to me, he dropped to his knees and began crying. I tried to think of what I should say but nothing was ever vocalized and yet he seemed to understand. "Marin...I'm sorry. I got so caught up trying to beat Ganon and protect Zelda that I completely forgot that you needed my protection too." He put his head down in shame and embarrassment. I put my hand as close as I could to him. Then the right words came to me. As I spoke, I could feel myself flirting with death. "She loves you, Link, and so do I. I'm sorry that it took me so long to see that but now I understand. You and Zelda are destined to be together." He looked at me, his eyes were a little pink and swollen and full of tears. It seemed like he was coming to terms with the idea that I wouldn't make it. Before either of us could speak, I could faintly see Ganon approaching behind Link. I knew that he and I didn't have much time left. I looked at him dead in the eye. "Now go Link go save Hyrule." He nodded as everything went dark.
