I remove JJ's hand from the rope, and she falls on top of me. " are you ok?" she was covered in water, and there were cuts on her hands and face.

" yea, go help, Diego." I walk to him and untie him. I make sure he's ok; he was severely hurt. But the EMTs were right behind me. They nurse him. I turn around to find JJ. But she's gone.

" JJ!" I run out trying to find her, the roof!

I walk towards Alex, who had just arrived back.
" where's Derek and spencer."

" um, they went to go help with the take-down." I nod my head and pull and open my bottle of apple juice.  Alex looked worried, more like she was hiding something.

" where did you guys go anyway, and why did it take you so long." I drink my juice, letting it fall into my throat.

" We thought we found someone that knew Askari." She pauses and looks at me.

" and..."

" they didn't have much information about him." in a saved by the bell moment, and I can hear JJ and the team walk through the building. We rush down. She hands her arm wrapped and some bandages on her forehead. Her husband hugs her and then her kids. Slowly the rest of the team starts to embrace her.

I smile and hug her; she grabs ahold of me. Longer than the rest. She kisses my forehead too. I pull away—too much affection.

I see Derek pull Emily away; spencer comes in front of me.

" Since everything is ok, do you want to play a quick game of chess?" he says, pulling me away.

" Spence- ."

" Please!" he cuts me off. He doesn't really beg. But I feel a tap on my back. It was JJ. She was calling me over to the corner. I mouth the word sorry to spencer and go to JJ.

" are you ok?"

" yea, I'm going to be taking some time off to recover." she rubs my shoulder with tears edging her eyes.

" what's wrong?"

"you're so strong- the guy was about to r-rape me. the terror and the pain; I felt, and he didn't even touch me." I force a smile on my face; I don't know how to react- is she boasting or genuinely sorry.

" it's ok. you focus on getting better." I force another smile and walk away. I deep exhale leave my body.

Emily and Derek were still in the room; what was going on. I walk directly into the office. Emily's hand was over her mouth; she looks distraught. Derek stops talking when he finally notices me.

" Jessie, did you hear any of that?" Emily turns around, looking both shocked and stressed.

" no, what? Why is everybody acting weird? what is going on?" She tries to put her hand on me, but I move my shoulder. " tell me what is going on!"

" nothing," Emily says.

" no, mom, there's something- everybody's acting secretive and-"

" Nothing!" she says, almost in a yelling tone. It takes me back a minute. She doesn't yell like this unless somethings wrong.

" what's wrong?" I look at Derek, but he looks straight at Emily. I leave the room. If Emily doesn't want to say something, she won't say it.

Everybody was packing up and leaving by this time. Hotch and JJ had already gone for the day; Reid was still sitting at his table pondering chess moves. I sit back down.

" What happened in there?" he says, moving his queen.

" nothing." I look at him and move my piece. I got his knight. We continue to play, then Garcia leaves, it's just Alex, Derek, Emily, Spencer, and I.

We finally finish the game. I won.
" do you want to play again." spencer says, setting up the board. I shake my head and walk to Alex's desk. She seemed like she was ready to go.

" goodnight!" I wave goodbye to her and walk into Derek's office.

Derek was also packing up, " we gotta get you home; you have school tomorrow." he says, patting my back.
Schools honestly the most stupidest thing; I purposely took semi-accelerated classes instead of fully to have more free time. Everything they teach seems like it could help a four-year-old.

" where's mom?" Emily wasn't in the room.

" she's getting her stuff. She'll meet us at the car." I nod and make our way to the elevator. Reid runs inside with us, trying to catch the elevator.

She and Derek look at each other; gosh, I'm done with all secretive stuff.
