they were rushing savannah and Jessie towards the surgery room. They lay side by side. While nurses were running to those double doors. Savannah was still holding my hand faintly, but I could feel her touch.

Jessie wasn't holding anything. Her hand was limp.
" is she alive?! someone tells me something." But, no one said a word. they just stopped me at the double doors.

" Sorry, sir, we can't allow you any further." the lady ushers.

" Derek!!!" I turn around and see Penelope and the rest of the team. she runs to me and hugs me, " what happened?" her glasses were foggy.

" Savannah and Jessie,t-they were shot." I take a minute for that to sink in. " one-shot in Savannah's shoulder, and one shot in Jessie's rib." I walk into the waiting room, back and force. " b-but Jessie hasn't woken up. She wasn't awake! has anybody called Emily?"

I look at everybody, " we have no contact with her."

" well, get in contact, dammit!" I throw the chairs towards the floor.

" sir?" I feel a hand tap on my shoulder; pls God, let this not be what I think it is.

"Yes?"

" Savannah is stable, but we're going to have to deliver the baby now." I look at her.

" no, no, she can wait to term."

" sir, her water broke. this is not a question. but she is not capable of giving birth vaginally." she snapped. " we are asking your permission to do a c-section."

" is she going to be ok? are there any complications?" I uttered, looking at the team.

" no, it's almost always successful!" I let the almost slide and nod. I want them to be ok.

" do you know anything about Jessie?" she shakes her head and walks out.

it was so bright, too bright and sunny. I was in a meadow or a place with a lot of grass.

Always check your surroundings, Emily drilled into my head. Upon closer inspection. There was a woman: dark-skinned with really long and thick hair.

" umm, excuse me, ma'am?" she turns around, surprised at first. But she turned ran up to me. She looks familiar, and I think she recognized me too.

" Jessie!!" she was wearing a long white dress, what was this place?

Her face was tearing up, she finally arrives holding my face towards her chest. " you- you can't be here. It's too early." she was crying even more, kissing my forehead repeatedly.

I started crying too. I wrapped my arms around her like she was an old friend.

" am I dead?" we sit on the bench she was at before.

" what are the last things you remember?" she says, wiping my tears.

"I was with my umm-" what do I call them? They're not my parents. " Derek and Savannah." she nodded like she already knew them. so I continued. " then, I think someone shot savannah."

Someone shot savannah. Those words echos in my head again. Savannah's pregnant. what's going to happen with the baby? " then I think I got shot, and then everything went black."

I touch my rib; nothing was there. Ok, but am I really dead. She scoots closer to me.
" you see that lake?" I nod, now that I thought of it; she had a really thick accent, maybe East African.
" look at it, closely." upon closer inspection; the lake set a scene. It was an operation table, but you could see the doctors and the bright light.
