TODAY WAS THE DAY. what day, you may ask? well it's the day my favorite cousin and only female friend, beverly marsh moves in with me! even if we're only related by marriage we're still closer than most of my cousins. i hadn't seen her in years, she used to visit every summer and a week on christmas break. but it changed, and i never knew why. nor did i have much contact with her after that.

but we'll finally be seeing each other, even if it took the death of her father to get here.

"so what does she look like again?" will's voice squeaks. he was the baby of the group. innocent, someone everyone constantly looks after. he was also about to go through puberty, so his voice is constantly changing ranges.

"dude, she told you already," lucas huffs, annoyed. he was like the big sister that was always on her period. he snapped at people when he was mad, even if they did nothing wrong. but at the same time he was a part of the party, and they couldn't live without him.

"long red hair, freckles. overalls obsession," dustin continued for lucas. he was like the middle child. he kept everyone in balance while constantly getting the other four cracking up.

"she's only in the party because of y/n/n anyways," mike grumbles. he wasn't a fan of new party members. especially if they were unannounced. he was the 'leader' of the group per se. the founder really, but it's always been a known fact that a founder is a leader.

"quit being a grouch," i hiss, elbowing mike in the ribs. earning a slight 'ow' from the boy. you could say i was the glue of the group, the mother, the one who keeps everyone together. not to brag, or anything.

we waited around five more minutes, and on the verge of ditching to the arcade we heard a noise that sounded exactly like wheels rolling on gravel and grass.

"beverly!" i exclaim, hopping from our porch swing and rushing to the car.

"y/n/n!" i could here her muffled voice scream through the car door as i jiggle the handle. "hold on, hold on!" she started laughing, lifting the lock on her door as i step back, allowing her to swing the car door open.

"oh my god i missed you so much," i tell her with happy tears streaming down my face.though they all landed on her shoulder as he had each other in a tight hold.

"no hug for me? your dear old mom you haven't seen in two days?" my mom exclaims as she hopped out of the car. she had to leave a day early for maine as it was almost a whole day away. the rest of the party and i just hung out in mike's basement playing d&d the entire time.

"so, you gonna introduce us?" lucas asks smugly as i separate from me and my mom's hug. lucas was eyeing beverly like she was a piece of candy. his eyes traveling all over her face, as if he were scared to go lower.

"ahh, so my cousin shows up and you're automatically fascinated with her," i say sarcastically, looking at beverly just to realize something new. "you cut your hair?!"

"took you long enough to notice," she retorts, fluffing her hair from its ends playfully.

"come!" i exclaim, grabbing her hand and leading her into our, newly, shared room. my room had always been too big for me anyways. i always had the gigantic empty space on one side, that no matter what we bought, wouldn't fill it sufficiently.

now that beverly was here, that meant two beds, filling up the room much better. while there was still plenty space for beverly to put her things.

as beverly and i ran upstairs, we could here eight feet pounding on the steps behind us. i already knew it was the boys.

"holy shit!" beverly drags out. my aunt had a high paying job. that meant big house, big rooms, and plenty of them at that. beverly and i just really wanted to share.

"this room.." she trails off, her mouth agape.

"huge, we know," lucas says with a smirk, leaning on the doorframe smoothly.

he failed.

"oh shit, are you alright?" beverly asked the now boy on the floor, stifling laughs and a smile.

"yeah, i'm good," he groans, standing up as dustin rolls his eyes and mutters the word 'idiot'.

"well we need to get packed so," i then motion with my hands for the boys to leave as they obey.

"mike's at seven!" will squawks from the main floor of my house, his voice wavering.

"bring beverly!" lucas butts in.
