I AWOKE WITH a jerk, immediately making my way to joyce as i saw will do the same out the corner of my eye.

"i saw him," will tells his mother as i nod along with his words.

"saw who, baby?" joyce asks us.

"hopper," i tell her, her worried expression falling from will's face to mine.

"i think he's going to die."

-

JOYCE GOT US to draw what we saw. there were tunnels, everywhere you turned. it's sad, frightening, to know that hopper was experiencing it firsthand at all times.

"hey, is this where you saw him? is this where you saw hopper?" joyce asks us, tapping the pages rapidly as our scribbling didn't falter.

"i think so, yeah."

"okay."

mike, joyce, and bev's voices faded into the background as will and i continued to draw the tunnels.

it was sad that will and i were together right now, but not in a good way. we were brought together because of the shadow monster, not because we missed each other.

the door opens as will and i whip our heads towards it, seeing bob, joyce's boyfriend, at the doorway.

there was this creeping thought in my head, bringing bob into this mess wasn't going to be good.

he approaches us, a focused will and an uneasy me. will was continuing to slide his crayon on the paper, yet i had stopped.

"huh, you drew all of these yourself?" bob asks will as the boy shakes his head, pointing at me with his crayon quickly before going back to work.

"neat. but- um- why? exactly-"

"i said no questions," joyce interrupts, reminding bob before walking a bit away towards the drawings pinned on the walls.

"yeah."

"w-we just need you to help us figure out what bob? bob? over here. w-where this is. that's the objective. find the x."

"what's the x? treasure?" bob jokes, trying to lighten up the mood as beverly and i laugh.

"bob," joyce slightly glares at the man,

"no questions."

"okay."

bob then pulls joyce into another room, talking to her in private.

"will, you feeling better?" mike asks the busy boy, will humming an unsure sound in responses.

"what happened?" beverly asks mike, but before he could speak more, my mouth moved by itself, shushing the two.

"o-okay," mike nods, sitting down as we waited for the adults to re-enter the room.
