I can hear him before I see him. His scent fills my nostrils and I swear I could get high of the sweet smell that he has. His footsteps are fast and he's alone. I don't hear anybody else with him.

I turn a corner, walking a steady pace to try and get rid of him. I don't think he'll follow me if I reach my classroom in time.

I look down the hall that I've just turned into and stop in my spot. I see Sean and his friends leaning against the lockers and talking. My mind flashes back to the party, how I humiliated Sean in front of everybody.

Without thinking about it I turn around to try and find another way to biology, but I smack flat against a rock hard chest. The sweet smell of caramel and some sharp cologne fills my nostrils again and I freeze up completely. He leaves me so weak and I haven't even talked to the guy, ever. Where his hand touches my skin I feel sparks fly, my skin heats up under his touch.

I take a step back, feeling my cheeks burn as my wolf purrs in enjoyment. She loves to be close to this guy, it gets on my nerves.

"We need to talk." Elliot speaks up. His voice is deep and it gives me butterflies, but I try to ignore them. This is the son of the Alpha that got my mother killed, I remind myself and look up to him. His hazel eyes are already looking down at me and there's this warmness in them. For the first time since the party I notice he has a silver nose ring on the right side of his perfectly straight nose. His hair is slightly disheveled today, but the bed hair look suits him.

"There is nothing to talk about." I tell him, trying to keep my voice from shaking. This boy is like a magnet for me and it's hard to keep myself away. "You're my mate." He lowers his voice to a whisper, narrowing his bright eyes at me. I force myself to look away from him, watching as students pass by and some even watch us. Beacon Hills high loves to gossip.

I feel his hand grip my forearm to bring my attention back to him, but I pull it out of his grip and glare at him.

"Leave me alone." I hiss at him. Elliot's eyebrows furrow in confusion and I think he needs a few seconds to process what I just said. "What?" He blurts out, his eyes dancing all over my face to find an answer. "I said leave me alone. I don't want you here." I growl out and I can see him take in a breath, his chest rising up. There is a cold look in his eyes and his jaw becomes sharper when he clenches his teeth together.

"Are you rejecting me?" He suddenly asks and it takes me off guard. Am I? Do I want to be with this guy that I don't even know? If I reject him, what happens to me? "I..." My words get lost and it's hard to look at him. I look away, watching the ground beneath our feet. "I don't know." I murmur and I can feel the tension between us evaporate. I think he is relieved to hear this answer than being straight up rejected.

"I just found out two days ago that your parents are the reason my mother is dead." I tell Elliot, looking him directly in the eye. I push the charm he has on me to the side and focus on the fact his family almost got both of my parents killed, not just one. Elliot's cold look is replaced by some other emotion that I really can't put my finger on.

"I just want space. I need to think through all of this. I don't want you trailing behind every step I make and stick to me like my shadow. I need time." I tell him and he nods a little. I'm a little surprised to see him agree to this, that he understands my wishes. We stay like that for some more time, just standing there in silence. I take in a deep breath and walk around him to get to my first period.

"Hey." He calls after me and I turn around to look at him. His hazel eyes hold a soft look in them. "I'm sorry for your loss..." Elliot trails of, searching his memory for a name he never received. "Mackenzie." I answer and his hazel eyes meet my blue ones. My mate nods a little, as to say thank you for telling him my name. "Thank you." I mumble out and then turn around, heading the other way of my biology class.
