I stand by Natalie's locker, as she throws her chemistry books inside the messy metal box. My mind keeps tracing back to the events in the cafeteria. Nat is just as quiet as I am, which is rarely the case with her. Tyler has been practically glued to Sam's side after the cafeteria incident and I don't think I've ever seen him this protective of her.

"I thought your brother is going to strangle Mr. Sexy." Nat's quiet voice makes me look up to her, bringing me out of my thoughts. She looks so petite, so small and vulnerable while staring in her locker. My wolf gets the urge to protect her at all cost. "Yeah. I thought so too." I mumble, my eyes dancing over the surprisingly quiet halls. There are few students here since it was late after class already. Most of the students that are still in school, are at the lacrosse field where the training has started.

"What did he even say to Sam? I didn't hear him." Natalie looks to me as she closes her locker. I shake my head, hating the taste of the lies on my tongue. "I tried to listen in on their conversation, but I didn't hear." I mumble, my eyes focused on the rows of lockers across from us. Nat watches me for a few more seconds before she sighs.

We both hear footsteps and quiet voices coming from the stairs, Nat's light brown eyes turning to look at the stairwell. I don't have to look to see who's coming down them. The members of the other pack come in view, Max and Rebecca in a heated debate, while Maddison trails behind them. Elliot was nowhere to be found.

"Shush." Max mumbles to Rebecca, when he lays his grey eyes on us. Rebecca looks towards us and I notice how her nose scrunches at the sight of me. Nat radiates an uneasy feeling that fills my nostrils with a burning sensation.

"Becca, no." Max tries to stop Elliot's sister from heading towards us, but she slips past his fingers. Her footsteps are heavy as she makes her way towards us. The uneasiness Natalie feels inside of her turns into pure fear that has a strong musky scent. I press my lips tightly together and stand my ground, as Rebecca stops before us. Her long dark brown locks fall in waves around her shoulders, her brown eyes opened wide in anger.

"Stay the fuck away from my brother." Her tone of voice is threatening and she looks at both of us when she says that. Natalie's intimidated by the she wolf that stands before us and I hear my wolf growl in anger. No one picks on my family. "Or what?" I take a step forward, so I'm hiding Natalie behind my back and going head to head with Rebecca. The she wolf lifts her head up a little just to look taller than me, but it's not really working. We're still the same height no matter if she stretches her neck out like a giraffe.

"You are not the boss of me. I can hang out with whoever I want to." I tell her with a firm tone in my voice and I see I'm getting under her skin. She grits her teeth tightly together at me. I notice Max walking towards us, gripping her forearm and pulling her back, away from me. She has to pull her denim jacket over her hands to hide the dark veins that threaten to bulge from her skin. Max gives me a glare, as he pulls Rebecca away from us. "Stay away, Moore." Is his last warning, before he grumbles something to Maddison. The redhead turns to look at me with an apologetic look, before she follows the two out of the school.

Me and Nat stand there in silence for a few more minutes, before her racing heart calms down and she grips my shoulder tightly.

"What the hell is their problem?" She asks me as I turn to look at her. Her hands are still trembling and she keeps on looking into the direction they disappeared off to in fear of them coming back. "They have loads of problems that they just like to dump on everyone else." I mumble, crossing my hands over my chest. Nat's eyebrows furrow a little as she looks towards me.

"You're talking like you know them." She says and I feel my throat shrink into itself. Crap, that was a bad move. I turn to look at Natalie and press my lips together. If I hesitate for far too long, she'll know something is up.
