When I open the door of my room to head out I see my mate just sitting across the hall. His head lifts up at the sound of my door opening, his hazel eyes looking rather glossy. I look down to him, keeping the mask that covers up my emotions on my face. I don't want to have this conversation with him right now. No, I'm going to Natalie's sleepover and I'm already going to have to act happy. I don't want the burden of this conversation on my shoulders as well.

Elliot stands up, his arms open for me to jump into them. I lift my hand up in order to stop him from coming closer to me, my open palm pressing against his chest to keep him from coming any closer.

"We are not going to discuss this. We are going to act like this never happened." I tell him, which makes Elliot's glossed over eyes burn in anger all of a suddenly. "What?" He barks at me, which makes me press my lips tightly together. I shake my head, my hand slowly sliding down his chest and over his stomach, before it rests by my side again. Elliot's open arms slap down against his sides in disappointment.

"I don't want to have this talk today. I want one more normal evening, before everyone around me starts acting like these are my last days alive." I explain, which makes him press his lips together. I see the slight nod of his head that tells me he understands and respects my decisions.

We head down the stairs and I question why he's following me. Did he all of a suddenly decide to go to the sleepover just because he learnt I'm a Kurenai werewolf?

"What are you doing?" I spin around to face him, which makes Elliot halt in the middle of the living room. One of his eyebrows raises up in confusion. "What am I doing?" The genuine confusion in his voice makes me almost roll my eyes at him.

"Why are you following me?" I ask, crossing my arms over my chest. My backpack with my clothes and toothbrush hangs from one of my shoulders and makes the weight uneven. "I decided to drive you and Alec to the sleepover." Elliot nonchalantly tells me, rubbing his nose with his knuckles. I watch his movement, watching the spot where his nose ring should be. I still can't get used to the idea of him not having it in.

"I can drive." I protest and Elliot rolls his eyes, before stepping past me to head to the garage. "No, you can't drive in this state." The way he tells me that, lets me know he sees through my mask.

I feel vulnerable all of a suddenly, like he took all of my clothes off and I'm standing naked in front of him.

I watch as he opens the door to the garage and heads into the cold space filled with cars and a motorcycle, before I follow him.

I stay quiet as he grabs the keys of the SUV, even though the sedan is parked in the garage as well. But I guess Elliot just got used to the car that I drove when we met up on top of the hill and we now drive to school.

"You coming?" He asks me as I stand in between the doorway to the garage. His eyebrows are raised and he gives me this soft look that almost makes it look like he's pitying me and I wish I could just tear his tongue out of his throat. I hate being pitied.

I nod as an answer and head down the steps before walking around the sedan to get to the SUV. I sit into the passenger seat, while Elliot turns on the car and clicks on the button that makes the garage door open. It reveals Alec already waiting on our driveway for us. His eyebrows are brought together when he notices Elliot sitting in the driver's seat.

"Hello." Alec says unsure when he gets to the backseats. "Did you change your mind about the sleepover?" The question is directed to my mate, who only shakes his head. "No. Just driving you two to Natalie's." Elliot mumbles, sitting into the car. We drive out of the garage when Alec gives me a questioning look. "That's nice of you, but... we both know how to drive." My wolf best friend insists, which Elliot completely ignores.
