I lean against the fence of the stairs in front of the school, my eyes glancing back and forth through the parking lot. I was on the edge and waiting for the pickup truck to roll into the school's parking lot.

"Man, I don't know why I got here for first period." Paul yawns next to me, glancing over to Alec. "Maybe, because it'd be good to start coming to school, genius." He huffs and I can almost imagine the lopsided grin Paul gives to my werewolf best friend. "I'm a certified genius." He corrects Alec and I hear Nat huff beside me. "And who certified you? The garbage disposal?" She asks with a snarky tone, but I feel her eyes dancing from me to the parking lot. She knows I'm waiting for Elliot.

"Very funny, Nat." Paul rolls his eyes at her and that's when the pickup finally comes. My muscles tense up at the sight of it parking in an empty space. What if Elliot is not with them like the last time? What if he doesn't even show up to school today?

My fears are calmed down when Elliot gets out from the driver's side, closing the door behind him and glancing over to the other side of the car over the roof. He catches Max's look across the car and I can see his lips move to tell his best friend something. I also feel Alec's eyes on my figure, making me look over to him. He has a stone cold look on his face, his eyes moving from Elliot to me and a look that says 'are you fucking serious right now' appears on his face.

My whole family doesn't trust Elliot anymore, saying that he tricked us into believing that he'd help and that I was the fool who believed him first.

"You guys go on ahead. I'll be right behind you." I say and I can see Nat's small smile. Paul gives me a confused look, oblivious of what's happening between me and Elliot. "Let's go, boys." Natalie pushes against Paul's back, leading him to the school, while pulling Alec behind her. She gives me a wink before she heads into the school with them.

I descend down the stairs of the school, heading for the four figures that are now moving to the school. Maddison's eyes land on me and she gives me a curt nod, acknowledging my presence. I return the nod as we pass, before my shoulder bumps into Rebecca.

"Watch where you're going, mutt." She hisses at me, but I don't even give her a spare glance. Max suspiciously glances at me before passing me, making Elliot the only one still walking towards me. His flannel is rolled up to his elbows revealing his toned arms. Under the checker patterned flannel, I see a black t-shirt. But I don't bother with his clothing for far too long. The second the distance between us minimizes I grip his exposed arm to stop him from walking.

It causes a spiral of dark veins to appear all over his arm and his eyes flash a golden yellow color almost instantly.

"Shit. A little warning next time would be nice." Elliot mumbles, pulling his arm out of my grip and shaking it to get rid of the veins. His eyes turn hazel and he searches around us to see if anybody is looking at us, but even his pack left us alone and went into the school.

"Sorry, but I need to talk to you." I tell him, as he tugs at my denim jacket to tell me to follow him. He starts to head up the stairs, while I just turn to look at his back. Elliot notices I don't follow so he turns to look over his shoulder. He nudges his head in the direction of the school.

"Walk me to my locker and tell me about it." He says, making me sigh through my nose. I give in to his offer and head after him and into the school.

"So, what do you need to talk to me about?" Elliot asks and I quickly take notice of a few looks that turn to us. By the time of lunchtime, the whole school is going to know I walked with Elliot King to his locker. "I need to talk to you about the mate bond." His movements become stiff and his expression changes when he glances down at me.
