Elliot and I wait at the car, watching as Rebecca glares at us one last time before she heads into the school. I already want to head after her into the school, but Elliot's arm around my waist tightens and pulls me back to him. I give him a questioning look, trying to figure out why he's standing there for.

"Wait." He tells me, seeing how Max grabs a big black duffle bag and Elliot's schoolbag before he heads towards us. Maddison comes out of the car as well, watching us from a far. She glances over to the school a few times, to see if Rebecca has actually gone inside.

"Here. Most of your clothes and some other stuff." Max outstretches his arm to Elliot, handing him over the duffle bag and schoolbag. "Thanks. I don't know what I would do without you." My mate grins at his best friend, before his arm unwraps around me and his open palm outstretches, silently asking me for the car keys. I fish them out of my oversized jacket and hand them over to him.

"This is the last thing I can do for you. You joined the enemy side and Frederick is losing his shit." Max's grey eyes glance over to me when he says the word 'enemy' and a scowl forms on my face at the subtle hint.

"I can't get my ass kicked out of the pack just like you." The door of the SUV closes and the noise of the doors locking comes to my ears. I see how Maddison looks to the school one last time before she crosses over to us and stands by Max's side.

"I thought you hated Frederick's plans?" I speak up, one of my eyebrows quirking at Sam's cousin. The male's jaw clenches and I see how Maddison rolls her eyes. "He does, but he's too big of a puss to stand up for himself like Elliot did." She tells me and I feel how the corners of my lips turn up into a mischievous smirk. Well, she did call him the right nickname. He is a big pussy.

"Well, whatever you want to call him, I completely understand how he feels." Elliot speaks up, a stoic expression resting on his face. He's still not happy with how things worked out, but who would be?

"Frederick is fuming. He wants your and your mate's heads on a silver platter." Maddison says in a hushed voice, glancing back to the school to check for Rebecca. I shrug my shoulders a little, unfazed with the new discovery. I was actually assuming his plan is something like that.

"You didn't hear this from me, but he's planning to attack your human friends soon." Maddison says, looking over to Max. He only shakes his head and lifts his hands up.

"I'm not being a part of this. I'm leaving." He starts backing away and I feel how my mate's mood shifts. The sadness has a rotten smell, so strong it hits me like a punch in the face. I look over to Elliot, seeing a frown pull at his face, which makes my wolf growl.

"Pussy." I bark out, which makes Max freeze up in his spot. The only thing I know about guys like Max is that they are very prideful. And they'll do anything to keep a good image of themselves.

"What did you say?" Max growls, turning around to look at me. I feel how Elliot tenses next to me, his eyes turning to look at my small form. "Oh, you didn't hear me? I called you a pussy." I say a little bit louder, having a determined look on my face. Max turns around to face me, a glare set on his face. Maddison has already caught up to my plan and I can see her smirking.

"You're going to have to fight your own best friend if you don't pick the right side now. You want to fight Elliot in the war? You want to listen to Frederick bark orders at you and live in his shadow?" I lift an eyebrow at Max, crossing my arms over my chest. I can see how his jaw clenches, anger flashing in his stormy grey eyes. "Or will you finally stand up for yourself and stand by your best friend's side? Like a true friend." I glance over to Elliot to make my point, before I look back to Max. He seems to be a little taken back by my words, his lips tugging down into a frown.
