The sky is already a dark color when we get back to the school, driving back through the same route as before. He parks in the now completely empty parking lot, just like I told him to. The engine is turned off by an easy flip of the key and Elliot looks to me.
I can't get the image of him losing control out of my head. I let my mind wonder what would happen if I would do anything else than just let my hair brush against his face.
"Mackenzie." Elliot calls my name, bringing me out of my thoughts and making me look to him. He is serious again, measuring my expression with his bright hazel eyes. "Thank you for trusting me enough today to come with me." He thanks me and it warms my heart. I nod a little, looking to the dashboard to avoid his mesmerizing orbs. "When do we meet up next time?" I ask, looking to the digital clock in the dashboard. It was close to eight already and I haven't even checked my phone for any missed calls. My family is probably worried sick for me.
"I have time on Saturday in the afternoon. Does it sound good?" His voice is soft and it caresses my ears in all the right places. If I could, I would listen to his voice forever. "It sounds good." I nod and look up, my blue eyes catching his hazel ones in a look. Elliot's serious expression breaks into a soft smile. "I think I can pick you up at four here." He nudges his head to the school when he says 'here'. I shake my head a little. This is already too risky. Me being in his car. If Rebecca sits inside it, she'll smell my scent on this seat.
"It's too risky. I smell completely of you right now, that's why I'm going to sleep over Natalie's tonight, so nobody finds out. I'll meet you on the hill on Saturday at four." I explain and he nods a little. "Okay." Elliot mutters and I glance to him, watching as he looks through the windshield at the darkened parking lot.
In a way I didn't want to get out of the car. I wanted to stay with him, spend the night together. He stirred something in me and now it's hungry for more of him. I want more, more information, more background on him. But I push that need away, something I can still do before my first shift.
"Thank you. For comforting me about my shift." I say, unbuckling my seatbelt. Elliot nods a little and his stoic expression is back in place. He is a mystery and it's hard to read him. I wonder what's going on in his head. "No problem. I'll see you tomorrow in school?" Even his voice doesn't hold the cheerfulness it did before. "Uhm, yeah. I'll see you around." I step out of the car and close the door softer than I did before on the hill. I start walking away from the truck, my mind trying to figure out why the complete three sixty change of his mood.
I glance over my shoulder, noticing how he's just sitting there in his car, his gaze nailed in front of himself. Before I could question it, I feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I pull it out and see Natalie's name blaring on my screen. I slide the answer button and press the phone against my ear.
"I'm here." I tell her and a sigh comes from the other end. "Thank god. I thought Mr. Sexy kidnapped you or something. You weren't answering your phone." I'm completely glued to the spot I stand on, watching as Elliot leans back into the seat and pulls out his phone. He's just sitting there and it has gotten me intrigued. "Yeah, I'm sorry about that. I had my phone on silent." I apologize, while watching my mate press his own phone to his ear. "Well, right now I don't care about that. Thomas and Sam have been blowing up my phone the whole evening. I ignored them, because I didn't know what to do." Natalie explains and I have to thank the Moon goddess that she kept her mouth shut.
"Nat, you're going to answer the next call that comes. Tell them I'm staying with you and that my phone died. We were watching old cliché movies all night and we ordered Chinese. If one of them wants me on the phone, I'm in the shower and I'll call them back from your phone when I get out." I instruct and I can just imagine her nodding her head. "Got it. I'll tell mom you're sleeping over. Get here ASAP." She hangs up after that, while I'm still glued on the same spot I've been standing on for five minutes already.
