The morning was warm, but my body felt cold. Like someone poured ice water on me. I don't think I could feel warm.
I stand next to Natalie, both of us staring out at the parking lot, waiting for the pickup truck to roll around. I don't know why I'm so worried. I wish I could stop feeling worried about Elliot, but my wolf's emotions were in chaos and they overpowered my human ones.
"He'll show up. Don't worry." Natalie's hand rubs my arm in comfort and I don't know if I should believe her words and get my hopes up. I don't say anything I just watch the parking lot.
A black sedan car drives into the parking lot and I almost know what's going to happen next. I'm going to get hell for not answering any of my family's calls. Tyler is the first to get out of the car, followed by Sam, Thomas and Alec. The older twin doesn't even look before he crosses the parking lot, almost getting run over by the silver pickup.
I grip Natalie's hand tightly, seeing how Tyler slams his open palm on the hood of the car.
"You trying to run me over, shithead?" Ty growls and I try to see who's driving the car, but I can't see from so far away. He crosses the rest of the distance towards me, while the pickup parks into a free space next to the black sedan. I notice the clenched jaw my brother has as he comes closer to me, his mate following him and calling his name to try and stop him.
Tyler grips the shirt Nat lend me for today's school day, almost picking me up from the floor. I grip his wrists tightly, thanking the Moon goddess that there are not many people out here to see me like this.
"Tyler, stop it!" Sam's yells get ignored, as Tyler practically shakes me a few times. "Who do you think you are!?" He growls at me. Natalie grips his hand to try and pry it open, but he pushes her away. Thomas catches her before she could fall and Tyler's threats go completely ignored when I see my other brother freeze completely. His hands tremble slightly, when he helps Natalie to her feet. I stare at them, analyzing Thomas's acting.
"Look at me!" Tyler's shout makes me turn to him. He isn't listening to Sam and Alec's protests to let me down, he is just staring at me. "Who the fuck do you think you are? Dad almost had a heart attack when he heard you aren't answering your phone. We almost scouted half the woods for you and then we get a call from your best friend telling us you're with her." Tyler's voice holds so much anger in it that it trembles. I glance over his shoulder, seeing only three members of the Midnight pack, but no Elliot.
The bell rings from somewhere behind me and I grip my brother's wrists as tight as possible, making him wince and let me go.
"Natalie, go inside. I'll be right behind you in a minute. If the teacher asks, tell him I just started my period." I order the only human between us. Her eyes are wide open when she sees me and Tyler glaring at each other. "What?" She questions me. I see Thomas grip her shoulder gently, the tremor in his hand visible only to a keen eye. "Go. These are just some family matters. Alec will go with you." Thomas nudges his chin to the school, watching as Alec presses his lips tightly together. He grips Natalie's forearm and practically drags her into the school.
I finally let go of Tyler's wrists, practically throwing his hands away from me. I am well aware the three from the other pack haven't passed, but are just standing in the middle of the parking lot, watching us.
"I'm sorry I worried you all. I never meant to." I apologize with a clipped tone. Sam's eyebrows furrow at my tone of voice and she follows my look, seeing all three of them just standing there. Rebecca has a smirk on her face, enjoying that we're fighting amongst each other. Samantha growls quietly, seeing her cousin watching her intently.
"But we've got an audience." I fill in the twins that are still staring at me. They both turn to the other pack's members, Tyler already angry enough to shift and pounce on them.
