tw// mentions of suicide attempt
His leg moving up and down as he sits on the uncomfortable waiting room chair, Dream worries about his friend. They had just arrived at the hospital and George was taken away on a stretcher, the receptionist leading Dream to the waiting room for the time being. He hadn't told Wilbur or Sapnap the news yet as he's been in a state of shock for the past half hour.
He decides to send Wilbur and Sapnap a text explaining where he is and what had happened, his hands shaky and barely able to hold the phone properly. Now he sits back and waits, his breaths uneven and his eyes still filled with tears.
Finally, a nurse comes out and speaks to him.
"Are you the friend that called the ambulance?" She asks, looking down at Dream with a clipboard in her hands.
"Yes," Dream says quickly, "How is he? Is he alright?"
"I'm afraid I am not allowed to disclose that since you are not his legal guardian," she says slowly, watching the expression on Dream's face turn sour. "Are there any relatives you can call for George? I see on his medical history that his mother had passed away."
"There's no one, his father is a piece of shit. Don't you dare call him," Dream narrows his eyes at the nurse.
"Well we need someone to sign off for him," she says. "It seems everyone else is in the UK."
"You can't call his father!" Dream snaps, then he lowers his head as he notices people staring. "Please, I'll sign off on him. I'm eighteen, he's eighteen, he doesn't even need a guardian anymore!"
"Well I figured you wouldn't want to pay the fees," the nurse says calmly as if speaking nicely would calm Dream down.
"I'll pay them, just don't call his father," Dream says desperately, to which the nurse simply nods slowly to and walks away.
A couple minutes later after Dream had finished signing papers to the best of his ability, Sapnap and Wilbur arrive.
"Dream, what happened?" Wilbur asks, wanting to know everything instead of just the frantic text that read 'george is in the hospital. attempted. bleeding' from the scared blonde.
"Yeah man why is George in the hospital?" Sapnap asks as they both take a seat next to Dream on either side of the boy.
"I went to his house to look for him and I was looking around until I walked into the bathroom and saw him lying there, b-bleeding and h-hardly breathing," Dream explains with a shaky voice, starting to sob again just thinking of it.
"Hey, it's okay, it'll be okay. Calm down," Sapnap says calmly, putting his arms around Dream. Wilbur looks around in concern.
"Have they told you anything about his condition?" Wilbur asks, still in shock from what Dream had said and unable to cry.
Dream shakes his head. "No they've told me nothing. I just want to see him Wilbur."
"I know you do, but hang in there. He'll be fine," Wilbur tries to reassure, but his point seems lessened as he starts to cry. Together, the three boys fall into a silence filled by their slight sobs, Sapnap being concerned but comforting the boys. People come in and out the emergency room but none of the boys seem to notice.
The three of them had been so caught up in their own thoughts that they hardly notice the nurse return. "We've stabilized George, if somebody wants to see him you're now allowed to. Only one person though, he's still unconscious."
Dream looks at Wilbur who gives him a slight nod. "You can go in Dream. Sapnap and I will go home, but please update us if anything happens."
Dream nods continuously and gives Wilbur a hug. "Of course I will, thank you Wilbur. I'll stay with him tonight and tell you everything."
