Dream wakes up the next morning to an empty bed, the warmth that was once beside him now gone. Confused, he sits up and looks around the room for the brunette, but sees nobody. His eyes lock on George's phone, broken and on the floor.
The blonde rushes over to pick up the phone, wondering when George had thrown the thing enough to break it entirely.
Making his way downstairs, Dream checks every room for George, calling out for him. He figures he might just be in the kitchen, but when he hears no sound and peers in to see nothing, his confusion just rises. There's no sight of George in the living room either. Perhaps the brunette is outside? Dream checks, no sign of George.
It's early Monday morning, and the day before both Dream and George agreed they'll skip school today to go to the police station. Thinking that maybe George changed his mind and went to school, Dream decides to text the group chat with all of their friends.
Dream: hey guys, have you seen george today?
Sapnap: no, why?
Karl: did something happen? he's not here
Dream: nothing, sorry, george just isn't home and his phone is broken
Sapnap: dude, wtf? do you need me to talk to someone and look for help?
Dream: no it's fine, he's probably just out. i'll talk to you guys later
Dream shuts his phone off and curses to himself, less than satisfied at the responses he had received. If George isn't at home and isn't at school, then where the hell is he?
The blonde makes his way back up to his room to change into new clothes, and on his dresser he sees a folded piece of paper. Its contents leave him confused.
Dream,
i love you, you're the best boyfriend i could've ever hoped for. if you're reading this then something has probably happened to me, don't worry too much though, i would hate to worry you... i just wanted to tell you that you're the best thing that's ever happened to me, and thank you for staying by my side for so long even when i thought all hope was gone. this got all sappy, i hope you aren't reading this right now, but everything will be fine. you're going to be fine, dream. i love you more than words can even express,
Your George.
Dream finds himself tearing up at the note, confused and concerned at what is going on. Today is the day that George's father is supposed to be locked up. Today is the day when George finally gets closure and justice, so what is this? Why does this note feel like a goodbye?
The blonde can't help all of the worst case scenarios that run through his mind, leaving him sobbing into the handwritten note that has already clearly been cried into previously. He grips the paper tightly and shoves it into his pocket, running down the stairs and grabbing his car keys. He worries about the worst possible outcomes, and his mind keeps going back to one of them.
His mind keeps going back to the possibility that George is with his father right now.

George had left moments after leaving the note for Dream. By now it's 3 in the morning and he's navigating the streets in complete darkness save for a few streetlights here and there. He knows the way to his house, and the walk in the cold is unbearable and anxious.
He doesn't want anything to happen to Dream, and if that means abiding by his dumb father's rules then so be it. He doesn't know what his father has in plan, but he's already prepared for the worst. Who knows, though, maybe he'll be home before noon like nothing ever happened.
