*Red's P.O.V.*
Finally arriving back at the Pokemon Center, I plopped myself down on the couch in our dorm. I thought about that kid. I felt that I should have know who he is, but I couldn't place a finger on it.
Crystal and Gold began playing with a deck of cards as they waited for Nurse Joy to check on their Pokemon. Gold grew frustrated with the game, which probably meant Crystal was winning. Crystal laughed at his reaction in a juvenile fashion.
Leaf began preparing some kind of food for dinner in the small kitchen behind a small wall. I could smell the aroma of fresh fruit. A sweet scent of strawberry flourished through the air. My stomach grumbled knowing she had just started desert.
I looked to Green who sat beside me, reading a magazine. Something seemed odd about him. Then I realized his hair was perfectly straight and brushed to one side in a messy style. Since when did Green keep up to date with fashion? I thought to myself.
Lyra emerged from behind the wall with an adorable smile you would see from a girl of a younger age. She curtsied before us announcing, "Dinner is ready..." She skipped ahead to the kitchen to assist Leaf in transferring the dishes to the coffee table in front of the couch I was sitting on.
The food that had been served glimmered majestically before my eyes. A lobster steamed perfectly to a warm scarlet lay atop a mountain of rice. All of it rest upon a cool seaweed, protecting the plate. My stomach growled happily at the sight.
"Woah," Gold gasped, "is the king of Kalos visiting tonight?"
"That looks magnificent," Crystal eyed her plate amorously, possibly infatuated.
Green and Blue laughed at the two trainers. "It's obvious that you haven't seen Leaf cool a dish before!" Blue giggled. Green nodded in agreement to her statement.
Just before we began to dig in, three knocks sounded from the door. Leaf skipped to it, swinging the door wide open. Outside stood a kid in red.
Leaf gasped loudly in surprise, "Fire?" As she said that, the boy swung his arms around her. Leaf had not been prepared for the hug.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Green barked. "Can't you tell that she's got a boyfriend?"
The boy nodded. His eyes sparkled like a flame. The expression on his face revealed he had something to say.
"I love you."
His words stabbed me square in the heart. I felt my veins tighten, slowing the blood flowing through my cold body. A blur masked my vision. Throbbing made a presence in my feet. Soreness forced its way into my throat. My mouth dried. My body engrossed itself in pain.
"Get out!" Green demanded, shooting himself up from the ground. He stormed over to the boy, throwing him off of Leaf. "Who the hell do you think you are?"
The boy lay on the cold tile of the hallway. Tears soon flooded his face. He quickly wiped them away and covered his eyes with his cap; he did something that I do.
"Green, I need to talk to them!"
"Who are you and how the hell do you know my name?" Green had grown angrier. "Are you a stalker?"The boy shook his head.
"I'm Fire."
Green began to curse at the kid, forcing him to hold back his tears. Leaf soon pulled Green back, ending his harassment. "You need to calm down," she said calmly. She held out a hand for the boy sitting outside of the room, asking him, "Are you okay?" Fire took her hand and rose to his feet. "Don't mind him. Green is just being himself. Would you like to join us for dinner?" Fire nodded, entering the form and sitting himself at the table of food set before us.
"I have something to say," Fire murmured. We all eyed him with curiosity. He took a deep breath. "I love all of you here-"
"What?" Green shouted in shock. Blue and Lyra gasped. Crystal and Gold gave awkward looks to the guest. Leaf and I remained calm. I don't recall why I was calm, but there was probably no other reason reaction I could have expressed.
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you..."
"Just say it all ready!" I could tell Green had reached the peak of his rage.
Fire flinched before saying, "You guys are my family. More precisely, Leaf and Red will be my parents..."
"Wait, what?" We all asked in unison.
Fire nodded. "You heard right."
"Did you say 'will be' as in the future tense?" Lyra question him curiously.
"Yeah."
"How can that be?" Blue puzzled.
"Time travel," Lyra awed. "I've read about it in a magazine my dad has at home. Bill, the guy who invented the Pokemon storage system, has created a machine that he vowed to continue working on it in the future. He actually did it, too. His future self had sent him a Pokemon with a message from two years prior to now. It is really quite remarkable! Outstanding even."
Fire nodded again. "All of this is true." He stared down at the plate Leaf had served him, avoiding all eye contact.
"So what brought you here?" Leaf asked, interested.
He took a deep breath before answering, "I was ordered to murder you and Red." Tears began to roll down his soft cheeks. Why would he kill us?
"Why?" I felt myself speak.
"By Team Rocket." Those three words stung my ears like a Beedrill.
"Why are you even associated with them anyways? Aren't I a great mother in the future?"
Fire nodded, reassuring Leaf. "Let me say that I'm not going to kill you. I'm only here to break you guys up so I won't have to live the life I will lead. You two are supposed to conceive me in three years, so I thought I should start early..."
"Way to go Red!" Green congratulated. "Knocking her up at eighteen! You better marry her!" Blue shoved him in my defense.
"What made your life so horrible?" Leaf asked softly.
Fire looked at me with lonely eyes. His brown orbs shimmered with his sparkling tears forming. "After I had been announced during Mom's pregnancy, Dad quit his dream right away. Mom wasn't happy that he gave up his ambition, so he left when I turned five to train. He wanted so bad to be a Pokemon Master. But I rarely ever saw him afterwards." Fire sniffled sadly. "Mom felt so lonely. She would never admit it, trying to force a smile on her face. But it was obvious to me. On my tenth birthday, dad gave me a special present," he paused and revealed a Pokeball. He released the monster from its capsule; out came the older Pikachu from before. "It was his first Pokemon, too. After that, he climbed to the top of a mountain to wait for a trainer able to defeat him. Soon arriving at the top, dad was encountered by a strong trainer and was defeated. No one had seen him since. When I came to be fifteen, the age I am now, I refused to set forth on my Pokemon adventure. I wanted to stay with my lonesome mother. About a week later, a group claiming to have plans of world domination broke into our home. They called themselves Team Rocket. Mom had told me about them before; they were a disbanded gang from her time. They slaughtered her before my eyes-" Fire stopped speaking and stared into space. He began to sweat as he cried silently, shaking. He was reliving his worse nightmare.
I shook his shoulder lightly, awakening him from his trance. "It's okay," I comforted the boy. "That hasn't happened yet. It never will."
Fire got up from the table quickly. I a quick manner, he paced out of the room. His last words were, "I have to go check on my friend..."
