*Gold's POV*
I took a deep breath, praying that Lyra would be okay when she awoke. Nothing would make me happier, my best friend with me forever and more. My head hung low as my hands clutched the bag held against my chest harder.  The bright white beams glaring from the ceiling have a sense of anxiety, my blood pumping thickly through my veins. Hospitals were a scary place to be.

BLOOP!

I scrambled to grab my pokegear from my pocket, quick to read the latest message...

{ We can't find Silver at all!!
                                  ~Blue 7:30 PM)

"Where is he?" I groaned, chunking my phone at the ground in frustration. The Pokegear bounced against the speckled tiling without a scratch.

"Where is he?" I turned to Lyra's frail body laying hopelessly on the pristine bed, her leg hung upward, arms covered in scratches. She still had a pink smile weakly on her face.

"Where is who?" I chuckled uncomfortably, not wanting to disappoint Lyra in such a tragic state.

"I don't know," she giggled, "you just asked, 'Where is he?' I'm just repeating so you know I'm awake."

"You should really be asleep. You'll heal faster."

"No," she frowned, "it's dark when I close my eyes. I don't want to go back."

"But the world is dark and scary, too."

"Why am I here?" Her wide brown eyes formed tiny tears at their edges.

"You busted your leg, Lyra."

"I know, but why am I here? Couldn't Blue's Cleffa have healed up like before?"

"I'm sorry, but they were so panicked about Silver that we had to get you to a hospital ASAP."

"What happened to Silver?"

That was an ache in my chest. "He was crushed under the tower, remember?"

"Is he dead?"

A silence made its presence known...

"Is he dead?" she repeated.

"I'm not sure." I began to sob into my bag.

"Thank you." I looked up tint best friend. Even in her frail stature, she was a giver. She shut her eyes. "You are the best thing that has ever happened to me, Gold..."

"Don't say that! I'm really not. I- I-..."

"Gold, really..."

"...I'm an asshole. I was a jerk. I knew you had a crush on me and I took advantage of that. I knew you'd stick around if I messed around with Kris but I shouldn't have done that to you. It's my fault why you feel like the world is out to get you. I'm the one who should be sorry!"

"Gold, It wasn't a crush."

"What?"

"That day we met Azurill, that day you showed you'd do anything for me, was the day I knew that I loved you. I've loved you for almost a decade, and my heart hurt every time I saw you with Crystal. I don't blame you. She was gorgeous, amazing, talented and so much better than me at everything. But you still let me stick around and I thank you for letting me stay close to you. I think she might be my friend, even."

"She's not," I huffed, "she never will be. She didn't care for you at all and she's wrong to be that way. Blue told me how she treated you, and how little she cared for someone as special to me as you. You are my precious treasure and I'm never letting go of you again. Kris is out of the picture, that little-"
