*Fire's P.O.V.*
I held Blaze in my arms as he cried heavily. He didn't deserve any of this. He lived such a horrible life.
My father had cheated on my mother after she their wedding, the day I was made. After a stressful day of training, he went to gamble at a game corner somewhere, eventually finding himself intoxicated. It was one mistake, but it made Blaze.
Yes, Blaze is my half-brother. But the half seemed to push him away, so he was just my brother. My little brother, to be precise. He had been born a week after me.
His silent cries bellowed in the cell we had been forced to stay in at the future Team Rocket headquarters. He wasn't always mute. Not when I met him when I joined Team Rocket.
That day we discovered our long lost brotherhood, the leader of the organization grew furious. We were never supposed to meet. She couldn't have it.
Blaze wanted to announce he had a family to the world, but the vicious leader didn't allow it. When he told her he would do it anyways, she personally beat him to a pulp. With one slender hand, she ripped out his tongue.
What a gruesome sight.
Blood.
Blood.
Blood.
His screams rang through the base. I hadn't done anything to help my brother. He needed me. My friend.
Annoyed by the voice, the woman dug her nails into his throat, damaging his esophagus severely. The pain he must have experienced. He would never speak again.
Luckily, Blaze still managed to adapt to his new condition. We learned sign language from an old textbook so he could communicate. He learned to swallow his food without the use of his tongue. He learned to enjoy life.
"The Leader," a deep voice spoke. The man opened our cell, spitting at us. We understood what he meant.
Sadly, Blaze followed behind me through the narrow hallways. There was no way to escape talking to the Supreme Leader of Kanto. He minions lurked everywhere.
A corridor creeped open dramatically, allowing both my brother and me inside. A blonde had a deceiving smile of happiness sat on a royal throne from Kalos. I nearly puked at her fake sense of friendliness.
THUD
The door slammed shut behind us. There was no going back. Blaze stood closer to me, hiding slightly behind my back.
"So," the blonde grinned, soon frowning, "what happened with the whole assassination of Red and Leaf?"
I lowered my head in shame.
"That's what I thought..." She rose from the seat and stepped toward us. "What happened to following orders?"
"We were scared," I blurted. It was obvious I was lying. I wasn't afraid, I just couldn't deal with the guilt.
"I see," the woman sighed. "Now why should I take this excuse into consideration?"
"He is our father, and-"
"SHUT UP!" Her demand was clear to me. I was not permitted to use the phrase. "I want him dead. And some simple children couldn't do my bidding. Go figure. I should have just killed you two instead of bargaining for your salvation..."
She stood before me, looking deep into my eyes with her dull yellow ones. She had obviously lived through a rough experience and ha witnessed a lot. What a poor soul.
SMACK
She struck my cheek and nearly sent me to the concrete floor. I held my ground, attempting to hide my pain. Emotion only angered the leader.
"We never speak of Red..."
I felt her voice sting my ear like a Beedrill. A certain sadness filled her tone. But she masked it with her ferocious bitterness.
"Why must we not?" I asked quietly, knowing the woman would view the question as an act of defiance.
"Because," the blonde closed her eyes, "he is a man of betrayal..." She wiped a tear from her eyelid before it could free itself. "... I loved him... and now the little family I have is the forgotten children he left behind. His useless, good-for-nothing children..."
"What?" Confusion filled my mind. Family?
"I loved him so much, but I was so naive..." She began to sob. "He never wanted me. He didn't need me. So I ran. And ran. I ran until I found a family. Little did I know I would be adopted into his..."
"Incest?" I nearly puked at the thought of my father with his... sister?
"No," she denied, "it was not incest. We weren't related in any way other than law. Besides, the more important thing we must worry about is his death... and now the both of yours..."
I felt a twitch in my chest urging me to be frightened. "But," I spoke, making and excuse, "we're you're family?"
She nodded. "Very well. You shall live then. But will be slaves in the work of Mnt. Moon. Your work begins tomorrow. Until then, you shall remain in the dungeon..."
"Thank you," I sighed in relief, "Yellow..."
