*Fire's P.O.V.*

Cold sweat dripped from my forehead as I let the pick axe pull my arm down breaking the stone wall before me. For days, Blaze and I have been working hard within the mines under Yellow's orders. Exhaustion ran through my bloodstream.

Crack.

Crack.

Crack.

"I'm so," my body forced me to stop and breathe, "tired."

Blaze nodded.

"I just wish we could take a break for a while..."

The guy in charge of us eyed me as my words flew out of my mouth. His dark cloak, fedora and sunglasses gave him a shady appearance. But I could recognize him as the man he brought both my brother and me into Yellow's custody.

He snarled, "Get back to work!" I ignored his orders for I had not stopped working at all. I merely mentioned the thought of a nice, relaxing break to cool down and I get yelled at. The present wasn't really a hoot-and-holler society.

I can't believe we are stuck here. In these times I hate so much, of all the places I could be it's here. Why is it that the present is much different that about two decades ago?

What changed?

Blaze huffed and puffed as he tried to lift the pick axe once more, but he just couldn't. He let go of the tool and allowed it to penetrate the solid earth beneath us. His body had given in.

"Hey," the officer shouted in our direction and sent adrenaline up my spine forcing it to shiver in a life or death manner, "pick it back up and work!"

Blaze hid his face by looking down at the ground. He just couldn't bare other people shouting at him. Slight tears rolled down his soft cheeks.

"Officer, please," I begged, "his arm just couldn't handle another go, just give him a little break. I promise he'll work just fine again if you do!" I hoped the officer would do as I pleaded. Blaze meant everything to me.

"Come with me, the two of you..."

A whirlpool formed deep under my stomach. Why did I have to live such a horrible life? Even young children knew that when an officer lured you away, it was to beat you senseless until you obeyed orders. And there was no avoiding it because the other option was death.

I nodded, showing that I understood. Both Blaze and I followed the young officer. He led us through narrow tunnels, small caverns and through absolute darkness.

We stopped in a dimly lit chamber. The air sat heavily on my shoulders, humid and thick. The floors wet from unknown sources seeped into my shoes. I felt as if I were dirty scum that deserved to be dumped in the garbage.

"Fire. Blaze." We looked fearfully at the sunglasses worn by the officers with no real way for us to make eye contact with him. He whispered, "Goodbye."

I shut my eyes ready to be slaughtered or something of the sort, but instead, a warm hand gripped my shoulder kindly. When I opened my scared eyes, a nice boy, maybe a few years older than me stared kindly into my face. His head nodded in assurance as he probably thought to himself.

"Yes," he hummed, "I'm sure you two are capable of stopping Yellow. But you have no time to grow and prosper into proper human beings..." He revealed a bag from under his dark cloak. My backpack. "I've left Blaze's Pokemon inside, don't worry. As for traveling, leave that to me for now!"

The officer fidgeted with what seemed like a wrist watch. Suddenly, a familiar portal stretched from behind us and glows vibrant rainbows (something that has been long forgotten since Yellow's new rule over the world). The officer smiled proudly.

"No go kick some ass." He shoved both my brother and me into the portal and we raced through time. "I'm counting on you!"

The portal shut instantaneously leaving the officer behind. I turned to my brother and smiled weakly. For now, we were considered free. But I'd heat to see what happened to the officer for letting us go. We just so happened to be some of the most wanted men in Kanto for not murdering Red from the past. And I of course didn't plan on it.

Blaze made some signs with his hands. They read, "So what do you plan we do?"

I shrugged. "I think we're headed back to Dad's time, so I guess protect him with everything we've got. For now, I guess we wait until we arrive..."

I grinned at my success in freeing the two most important people in history. I didn't believe in them at first, but I soon realized they were strong enough to follow their own beliefs and not what they were told to do instead. Red needed to live anyways.

I fled the mines as to refuse captivity for my crimes. Yellow would legitimately kill me if she discovered that I freed the two children. And she would soon discover I had done so. She knows all.

Fire held onto my hand tightly, making me feel a bit safer. He had been there for me for as long as I remember the 'new world' back at home. My big brother was my security.

We soon approached the end of the time traveling tunnel, our destination. Both my brother and I braced ourselves for the landing. Plop! We made it.

"We need to find out the date," Fire informed me, "any ideas?"

"The newspaper," I answered with my hands. He smiled and nodded in pride.

"Smart idea!"

We went into the nearest building, making sure to keep a heads up on any sign of a date. We entered a colossal event center with many people pumped and ready for the day's show.

"What is this place?" I asked Fire with my signs.

He thought for a moment before answereing, "I believe it is the Pokeathlon..."
