*Gold's P.O.V.*
After obtaining my badge from Bugsy at the Azalea Town Gym, I decided to grab a snack while Crystal did her battle. She could handle herself just fine.
Lyra tagged along, stepping quietly behind me during my search for a restaurant. Such few options there were. I could get a burger, a sandwich or platter of chili fries. At least, that's what I could afford.
I consulted the quiet girl behind me.
"What do you want to eat?"
Lyra shrugged, seeming a tad shy. She didn't normally act in this manner. What could've possibly been wrong?
"Are you okay?"
Lyra nodded slightly, almost to where I couldn't tell. Her large eyes watered more as she tried to blink back tears. She really was not fine, but I knew forcing her to spill wouldn't be the best thing to do.
Lyra took in a deep breath before saying, "We could eat somewhere with a salad..."
I gave her my signature smile; all the girls fell for it. She was a cute girl, and totally my type. Her warm lips curled upward slightly, revealing that the girl I liked had given in.
We stepped into a country-styled restaurant to order a burger for me and a salad for her. The environment was incredible. The wooden shack had been smoothed by its old age, probably worn down by all of the happy folks that had visited the restaurant. The wood grain furniture added to the essence of the atmosphere. The place truly felt old-timey.
At the front, I ordered our meals. Lyra stood close to me as the cashier passed me a ticket. I could smell the sweet shampoo in her light pigtails.
Strawberries...
We found a small table built into the shape of a spool near an open window. A fresh breeze bounced right in cheerfully. For the first time in forever, I felt a sense of tranquility wash over me.
"Gold?" Lyra mustered up. I eyed her curiously, meeting with her large, alluring brown eyes. I had to force my bottom lip to stop quivering from her beauty.
"Yeah?"
Lyra continued to stare into my face. She took a deep breath before saying,
"You've been spending a lot of time with Crystal..." She left me confused. What could me being with Crystal have to do with anything? "So you like her?"
What?
I stayed silent, acting as if I didn't hear her.
"Gold, it's okay. You can tell me."
Did I like Crystal? I liked the fact that she was attractive. She's a phenomenal kisser. And she really knows how to-- you know what, I'm not going to say that last point.
"I guess," I finally answered.
Lyra looked down at the table sadly. "That's what I thought." I honestly felt bad for her. Did me being with Crystal really affect her?
Lyra began to sob. I was only able to tell because of her sniffling. I was a jerk.
"I'm probably just in the way," Lyra cried quietly, "so I can just leave."
Lyra got up from her wooden chair and tried to walk away, but I stopped her. I held a warm wrist of hers in my hand. She attempted to loosen my grip, but she couldn't manage to.
"Lyra, stop!"
"Let go!"
"Wait! Let me talk!"
