Aru's POV

Brynne, Kara, Hira, and I were hanging out in my room and were on our phones playing Minecraft. 

"Shah! Stop killing me!" Brynne yelled. 

"This is the only game I can kill you in!" I yelled back.

Aiden was in the hall and stopped in my doorway and stared at us.

"Are you guys alright?" he asked. 

"As fine as I will ever be," Brynne said. "As long as Aru stops killing me!"

I killed her again.

Aiden plopped down next to me on my bed.

"Can I take picture of the statues?" he asked. 

"Um, I think so?" I said.

"Thanks, Shah!"

He hugged me and left.

Brynne looked up from her phone. 

"You know it's obvious he likes you, right?"

I looked at her. 

"No, he doesn't," I said. 

Hira nodded. "I haven't known you for a long time but it is obvious."

Brynne cuddled closer to Hira. "I agree with cinnamon roll."

Kara looked at me. "I agree with- with- I have no idea what either one of your friends' names are but I agree with them."

"Uhm, thanks, I guess?" Brynne said. 

I killed her once more.

"Aru!" Brynne screamed. 

I ignored her, again.

I walked out of my room and found Aiden taking photos of the statues just like he said he would. 

"Aiden. Can we talk?"

He stopped taking photos and looked at me.

"Did you figure out I ate the last of the Swedish fish? Or that I went to Home Depot yesterday without you?" he asked. 

"N-" I started. I had to process that. 

He ate the last of the Swedish Fish AND he went to Home Depot without me. 

What's so wrong with a girl wanting to walk through a door and ask people what year it is?

I rolled my tongue over my teeth.

Why, Aiden? Why? 

"Why are you so quiet?" Aiden asked. 

"Well, you can't plan murder out loud," I replied.

"I'm sorry! I'll buy you more," he said. 

"What did you want to talk about?" he asked.

"We are friends, right? Nothing more, nothing less?"

'Great way to put it, Shah. Now you made it seem like you don't like him and there isn't even the slimmest chance of us getting together, ever,' I thought

Aiden looked confused. "Yeah? Why do you ask?"

That kinda hurt me. I mean maybe he only said that because of the way I worded it. 

"Brynne got this crazy idea that you like me. Like whattt? So I just thought I would come down here and ask you."

He started to fidget with Shadowfax.
