It was the weirdest turn of events. Nothing that the boys could have predicted. They didn't have a clue where their lives were going to take them after the murders, but now it was written out in stone for them by someone else's hand.
The next phase of their villain lifestyle landed right at their feet, and they couldn't be happier for it.It had been a couple of months since the previous events, and they had been faded from the media's attention as a result. Since UA didn't have to do press releases all of the time (they didn't even want to associate with the existence of the boys, and were getting nailed for the lack of security that cost the life of a student), they kind of disappeared from public eye. They were able to walk around their small town they resided in and not worry about police or anything of the sort.
It was October now, the fall air absolutely chilling. Nights were spent bundled up and watching from their nearby bedroom window as the maple leaves changed colors and collected in piles streetside. Daytime was spent drinking tea (or coffee) in lovely turtleneck sweaters and pants.
When they visited the League, which was every other day, everything was well. They were all like a family. The members mostly embraced their presence.
Mostly.Shigaraki adored the new members, and had definitely gone soft in order to protect them and Toga since they were all so young. Mr. Compress enjoyed tea time with Izuku, though he didn't get along with Katsuki due to his aggressive nature. Spinner wasn't around very often so they weren't close. And Katsuki had definitely taken Toga under his wing as a little sister. The two blondies (as dubbed by the group) did a lot of sparring together and just hung out. Izuku didn't spend too much time with Toga because she seemed to have a crush on him still. In fact, she stole Katsuki's blood one time and tried impersonating the blond... It didn't go over well.
Dabi was the one they were the closest to. Katsuki and Dabi had this weird dynamic where they were always one-upping each other with aggression or weird nicknames. Their favorites were Beef Jerky for Dabi and Ankle-Biter for Katsuki. They acted like they hated each other, but when they shared cigarettes on the balcony of Katsuki and Izuku's apartment, there was a silent bond no one really understood. Izuku bore witness to it a few times, sitting out there while they smoked, and enjoyed the pleasant and respectful energy from the boys. Dabi visited pretty often, feeling like he never had anything better to do. Which was kind of true.
He also had a confusing life. The boys related to it. Being the estranged (and assumed dead) son of the newly-crowned number one hero, Endeavor. He was also Todoroki's eldest brother, which always shook Izuku to his core. They weren't anything alike. He was currently fucking the number two hero, Hawks. Actually, they got eloped in August. It was an interesting relationship, but they made it work. Somehow.
Anyways.
One chill October morning the boys were hanging out on the balcony of the apartment that they adored so much. Izuku was sitting politely on a plastic chair, drinking a cup of green tea with orange slices while Katsuki sat on the concrete terrace, smoking a cigarette. They talked lightly about the fall birds arriving, and how Izuku missed the songbirds that nested at UA.
There was an aggressive knock on the door that caused Katsuki to jump and almost fall off of the concrete. Izuku smiled and chuckled from his boyfriend's clumsiness.
Each member of the League had their own knock, Izuku had figured out. He had written it in a notebook, but this one he had memorized. It was Dabi.
"No need to panic, Kacchan. It's just Dabi." Izuku smiled, Katsuki putting out his cigarette in his plastic ash tray that was decorated in half-smoked cigarette butts and remnants of joints. Izuku grimaced at the sight.
