The darkness gnawed at the candlelight,
Mosquitoes danced and sang in my ears,
I tried to set my thoughts aright
As the darkness played with my pain and fears.
Two parts in and I felt a pang,
An emptiness within that ran so deep,
I felt like a yin that had lost a yang
As the thoughts mounted and began to creep.
I wondered what mask I would put on today,
A wide happy smile? Or a dead cold stare?
Untouched, the candle light would dance and sway,
Reminding me that the light never gave in to despair.
I let the music and the silence descend,
I may be alone in this until the end,
Just as the darkness keeps gnawing at the light,
I'll try my best and keep up the fight.
