It was all too sudden and far too shocking,
The way the light left the tunnel and stood aside mocking—
The efforts that I made and the scars I got walking
This long marred road that left me lost and gawking
There's always a shadow where the light is cast,
Today you could be first and tomorrow a worthless last,
No one ever moved forward while staring at the past—
yet standing in the crowd I felt like a lost outcast.
I thought of giving up and the bliss in death's embrace,
Of the peace and quiet I would have to myself if no one ever saw my face,
Only two decades and I was giving up the race—
Stumbling in the tunnel and oblivious to my case
Two weeks in and I knew it was a 'phase',
I was riding to rock-bottom all lost in a stone-cold daze—
Then a hand touched me and a voice roused me and there she stood in front of the rays,
There I realized, that was her magic—
she could still see the sunset even on those darkest days
And as she took me by the hand in a sea of purple that lighted up the way in glee,
I lifted my head and opened my eyes to the light that was in front of me.
