Atlas's POV

"Your family isn't doing so well" Jax sighs as I nod biting the inside of my cheek.  We were in the courtyard leaning against a stone wall.  "I walked into the dining room and you would think there was a funeral happening" they add making me groan.

"That's because, they think that's what's going to happen" I bud in. "Well then they obviously haven't met you and Iris" they chuckle trying to make me feel better.

I nod going to thank them but get interrupted by one of the competitors from their school coming over.  I stare at him kinda mad by the way he sauntered over here into our conversation. "Hello Jax" the teen smiles standing in front of them.

"Rawlings" Jax acknowledges him and I hold in a laugh at how neutral his tone became. "Come on cupcake, I thought we were on a first-name basis"  he chuckles as I look him up and down.  This was the Tres one.  The one Jax didn't like.

Rawlings grabbed their hand with an mischievous look. They pushed off of the wall and smile, tilting their head to the side.  "I'll call you by your first name when you realize no means no" they sneer snapping their hand out of his grip.

At those words, I too stood up. "Leave them alone" I growl. Rawlings looks over at me like he had just realized I was here. "Stay out of our conversation" he fights back.  "Then stay away from my cousin" I chuckle growing angrier by the second. I know Jax isn't really my cousin our relationship is so confusing. Their parents aren't even actually related to me.

"He is having a conversation with me" Rawlings grows defensive grabbing at Jax again. "They" Jax corrects them meekly attempting to pull his wrist back.  "Yeah, yeah whatever" he rolls his eyes.

I had, had enough. "Listen here you piece of-" of course I get cut off by another bimbo. "Tres! There you are!" The other competitor from their school comes over smiling brightly. His smile drops when he sees the situation. I didn't remember his last name or first honestly.

The two in front of me freeze as Rawlings releases Jax's wrist. They rub it before stepping over to me more. The other guy dragged Rawlings by his coat and I watched them certainly pissed off.

Jax seemed unbothered and that made it even worse. The taller one of the two, no-name pointed towards the entrance and Rawlings quickly nodded before walking off.

No-name slapping him harshly on the back beforehand. I held in a laugh as Rawlings flinched forward attempting to rub his back as he walked off. "Please don't come over hereeee" They whine next to me.

"Why? Is he bad too" I whisper, no-name already walking over to us? "No, he's just really hot" Jax groans as it all comes back. "Oh, that's the crush!" I shout a little too loud getting whacked in the chest.

"Hey, Jax you okay?" No-name gives him a worried look while Jax practically faints into my arms. "Err- fine- yup- I'm hillbilly bucking good" they go brain dead stuttering out random words as I stare in horror.

The secondhand embarrassment was really starting to hit. "I don't think they're okay" no-name sighs looking over to me. I smile at the correct pronouns while Jax sighs a happy sigh.

"Lev Kuzmin" he introduces himself as I beg myself to remember his name.  "Atlas Malfoy" I nod introducing myself as well. "Of course I know you, you're the boy to beat, not to mention your whole family is badass" he smiles before looking back to Jax.

They had some sense knocked back into them. Leaning onto me again "heh hear that we're badass" they sing seeming anything but sober. "Child, you seem anything but badass right now" I remind them.
