Kohl dipped the sponge in the water and started washing. Arya was outside, cutting some of Mira's herbs in the small garden next to the house. Mira had a garden where herbs and some fruits and vegetables grew.
"You may have marked her, but there is no bond or connection between the two of you at all."
He let the sponge slide over his scarred arms and chest, washing off old sweat and soil.
"She doesn't know anything about you. Even I know more, just by looking at you. She thought your scars were all from war, but I know better."
Kohl recalled the words that Mira had told him before she left to visit her brother. She reminded him of Isoldi. Maybe that's why he was thinking about her words again.
"I know men like you. Actually, my old love was exactly like you, he also didn't let me in. He could never tell me what he thought or why he was like he was. To hate is easy, but to love is difficult. He was a coward, don't be a coward, Kohl. Talk to Arya."
He wasn't a coward! He just didn't want to think or talk about the past, that's all!
"She will languish this way, can't you see? Right now, you are all that she has. And you two will need each other for what will come since there probably will come another war. You don't have to do everything by yourself, Kohl"
Just when the alpha was all washed up and dressed again, Arya came back in and saw Kohl wearing the clothes that Mira had arranged before she left.
"They're a little small," Arya said when she saw that the sleeves of Kohl's shirt were a couple of inches too short.
"It's ok."
"Yes, it's better than nothing. I'll wash your own clothes." Arya said and walked to the pile of dirty clothes and picked them up. She would wash them later, wanting to do things to keep her mind busy. And if that meant she had to clean Kohl's dirty clothes like a good omega wife, then so be it. "Do you think you are strong enough to go outside again?" she asked Kohl.
"Yes, why?"
"It's full of rabbits here. I thought, maybe you can catch one for dinner?"
Kohl nodded. "I'll do it now," he replied.
It took Arya by surprise that Kohl didn't come for her, wanting to sleep with her again. She thought it would be the first thing her alpha would do when he had regained some strength: Letting her know that he hadn't forgotten the twice-a-week rule.
About 20 minutes later, Kohl walked in with two dead rabbits. He'd skinned them already.
"Can you cut off the meat?" Arya asked and Kohl obliged, happy he could put a knife into something.
"Throw it in the pot," she said while she was cutting some vegetables. "We're going to make a rabbit stew."
After putting the pieces of meat in the pot, Kohl went outside to wash his hands. He was almost done, when he heard a loud cry, coming from inside the house. When he rushed inside, he saw Arya looking at her finger while blood came pouring out of it, streaming over both her hands.
"Fuck, fuck!" Arya yelled while she stomped with her feet.
"Jesus, you cut your finger?" Kohl asked.
"What do you think?!" Arya asked mockingly. "God, it stings!"
Kohl searched for a clean cloth and found it. "Let me see."
"No." Arya didn't want him to touch the wound. It hurt.
"Let me see your damn finger!" Kohl grabbed the bleeding finger and rubbed the cloth over it.
"Fuck! You're hurting me!" Arya barked at Kohl.
