It looked like it would be a beautiful day today. The grass was still moist from the night when it had rained so much and so long, but the sun shone now, making the green blades glistening in the light.
"What shall we do today?" Arya asked Kohl as she looked out the window and took a bite out of an apple she had picked this morning.
"..."
Well, it seemed like her husband was his chatty self again... "Maybe we can go to town? Or you can do some training if you want. There's an ax outside to chop wood with. You could use that, maybe. You use axes to practice with, right?"
"That ax is a little too big to be used as a weapon," Kohl replied.
"Oh. Well, in the small shed outside is an archery bow and a bunch of arrows as well. You also train with those, hm?"
"I do."
"Maybe you could teach me today?"
Kohl looked at Arya with a look of surprise. "Why would I teach you?"
"Why not?"
"You're an omega and a woman, you don't need to be trained to use weapons."
Arya rolled her eyes. "So what if I'm omega or a woman?" She sighed. "You can teach me to fight, so I can protect myself."
"You have me for your protection."
Arya sighed again. "Fine! It was just an idea. Forget about it," the omega said, slightly irritated before she left the house to empty her bladder. Displeased, she walked into the woods.
She really thought they had a good talk yesterday so it would be nice if Kohl also could put some effort into building their relationship together.
After she was done, Arya walked to the nearest stream and washed herself. When she came back, she saw Kohl standing outside, waiting with a bow in one hand and a set of arrows in the other.
"Ok, let me teach you then," the alpha said.
That pleased Arya. "Good," she smiled.
~
"Be careful that you don't hit your arm with the string when you release," Kohl warned. "Ok, now draw back, focus and release."
Arya did what the alpha had taught her this past half hour. She drew back the bow, paused to aim at the tree trunk, and released it.
The arrow didn't even go near the point Arya wanted it to go. "Damn it!" she yelled in frustration.
"It's ok. I didn't expect you to aim and hit bullseye right away." Kohl said. "It's hard and not just something you always succeed in at the first try." He found it quite amusing to see how Arya couldn't stand her loss. The woman's face was all red from excitement and frustration because things didn't go the way she had expected. "I think we should stop. Your arm is probably getting tired," he suggested.
Arya was annoyed. "Yes, it is."
"We can try again tomorrow if you'd like to practice again."
"I would," she answered. "Show me again how you do it."
Kohl collected the arrows that laid on the ground, grabbed the bow, and aimed. The arrow hit the bullseye, right in the middle of the tree trunk.
"You make it seem like it's so easy," Arya said. Kohl had such an elegant posture when he drew back the bow and released the arrow. Not the barbaric, brute, beastly posture he usually had, but almost graceful ... Arya liked the sight of it.
"I have been practicing for 15 years. You just did it for one day," Kohl answered.
~
At night, Arya couldn't sleep. She wasn't feeling well but couldn't really say what was wrong with her. It was just an uneasy feeling. While Kohl was snoring next to her, she wiggled and wiggled before she finally fell asleep.
