"When I was younger, I always sleepwalked," Arya said. "And this one time, I peed in my housemaid's shoe." She laughed.
They were on their way to the blacksmith, walking through the woods.
Kohl smiled too. "Who does that?"
"I don't know...me, apparently. But I was asleep, so I wasn't to blame! I probably just had to go. She told me that story many times when I was older, always teasing me with it."
Arya talked nonstop. Mostly she gave information about the wild flowers and trees they came across during their walk, but she also shared things also about her childhood and mother. Kohl was silent but found it interesting to hear.
The omega was still happily talking when all of a sudden there was no Kohl next to her anymore.
"...?"
She turned around and saw her husband kneeling on the ground, hands stretching out to grab something. Was that a rock Kohl reached for?
When Arya walked towards Kohl, she saw that the alpha actually had picked up a poor turtle that was suffering on its back. "Oh," Arya said.
"What is it?" The alpha said, helping the poor creature back to its four little feet.
"Wait... Did you just do a nice thing?" Arya asked playfully.
"Otherwise it could have died."
Kohl knew that because Isoldi had told him. They had found a little turtle on its back when Kohl was about 9 years old. Often they can flip themselves around again, but sometimes the turtle needed help because they couldn't do it on their own.
The little brown reptile sat with all his limbs and head hiding in its shell, till slowly its little head came out peeking.
"He's fine," Arya said. "Thanks to you. That was sweet, Kohl."
"..."
"I'm proud of you. You did a good deed!"
Arya chuckled.
"Shut up," Kohl mumbled, but secretly he kind of liked the teasing words coming from his mate so he had to laugh as well.
They then shared their first laugh together. And it felt nice. It was an emotion that Kohl hadn't felt for a long time...

The blacksmith looked at the golden ring that Kohl presented him.
"This small ring isn't enough to trade against a sword. Sorry, Sir," the young man said again after Kohl had asked him a second time.
The alpha didn't know what this blacksmith exactly thought, but he certainly wasn't going to beg for a sword. He was nice enough to offer a ring in the place.
"Listen, I need a sword, and I will get a sword. This ring is all I can offer you. You can take it, or you don't, but the sword will be made."
"I'm sorry sir, but I--"
Kohl released some intimidating pheromones and grabbed the boy by the throat. "It wasn't a question. I need that sword and you will make one. Or...I will end you right here, right now, including the rest of your family. Your choice." He growled and clenched his jaw.
"Kohl!" shouted of a familiar voice. A disappointed voice that actually should be waiting outside, while he was doing business inside.
The poor man whose neck was still held tight in Kohl's hard grip was pissing himself from fear till a stain was noticeable in his pants.
"What?!" the alpha spat at Arya who was watching the scene with a displeased look on her face. "Let the boy go!" she told Kohl.
The barbarian listened to his mate with some reluctance, but the boy was released. He coughed and looked at Kohl in horror.
