Ryan

Upon closing my locker, I nearly jumped out of my skin at Rachel Berry standing next to it with a smile on her face, that could only mean one thing.

She wanted something.

"Yes Rachel" I said catching my breath after that jump scare and feeling just about ready to leave for the day.

"Good afternoon Ryan." She said happily with a smile.

I was really not in the mood for this. I had work after school that I needed to get to. Burt needed a hand with one of the motors and I agreed to do it. Money was money. "What can I help you with?" I asked sort of impatiently.

"Why do you presume I'm after something?" She asked looking a little self conscious.

"Whenever you seek me out to talk to me, it involves me helping you with something." I said back and started walking down the hall, gesturing for her to walk with me.

"I just wanted to properly thank you for helping me with the Finn/Quinn baby blog situation" She said and looked down shyly. "I thought it was really noble of you to step in and help them like that... and me with Jacob" She said and I knew there was something else.

"Anndddd..." I prompted.

"And I was wondering if you needed help with baking for the bake sale" She asked randomly I stopped walking to turn to her.

"Who said I was baking anything?" I asked.

"Well we all have to bake something for it, and I saw you in glee club supporting the idea that we support Artie..." She said.

"Wow, you really never miss a thing do you?" I asked. "Okay so, whats in this for you?" I asked not buying the selfless not helping thing. Rachel always only does things if she gets something out of it.

"Why are you presuming that I get anything out of this?" She asked looking offended.

"Becasue in this time I've known The Rachel Berry, she really only likes to do something that will  help her out in someway." I said and she looked a little like she'd been caught with her hand in the cookie jar. "You wont offend me. So what do you need me do?" I asked her. "I mean if it gets me out of baking I'll do it. I can cook, but I don't bake..." I said making a face.

She laughed. She has an infectious laugh. I couldn't help but laugh too.

"Okay.. okay, I was wondering if you'd ever seen Wicked on Broadway, seeing as you lived there for a period of time. and I was going to help you with baking and subtly see if you were indeed a musical fan and have indeed seen one of the greatest musicals of all time... and then..."

"Woah, okay slow down" I said and she finally let out a breath. "So you wanted to see if I was a secret Musical Fanatic like yourself and then what...?" I asked her.

"I wanted you to listen to my performance of Defying Gravity and compare it to really thing. Videos of the performance on YouTube are all well and good, but nothing compares to an in person live performance in THE actual Gershwin Theatre." She finished.

"Okay, well all you had to do was ask" I said and she nodded.

"I realise now that my plan was a little elaborate" She said and I let out a little chuckle.

"A little. That sounds like a lot work." I said and she laughed again. "Look I have work right now, but maybe tomorrow I can give it a listen. And just to clarify I have seen wicked. My best friend from back in New York took me to see it. She said it was a must see. And I agree, nothing beats live music. But for this...in return, you can help me bake" I said and started walking towards the parking lot. She nodded and then fell into step with me again.
