Time To Say Goodbye

The woman was rushed to Air Temple Island where everyone was waiting. Her girlfriend was helping as much as she could but nothing was working. Korra tried going into the Avatar state to heal her friend but nothing was helping. The wound was too deep. Blood was filling her lungs. She knew this was it for her. The older water tribe woman was screaming and crying as she tried to get her to stay awake. Tenzin was sitting in the front of the Air Bison, guiding Oogie into a safe landing. Pema had prepared a healing room for Lin and made sure the kids didn't see the Chief in her condition. Blood was spilling out of the side her mouth.

"Baby please!! Don't close your eyes!" Kya cried as the metal bender went in and out of consciousness. Lin was rushed to the healing room where a tub of water was waiting along with Katara. Korra and Tenzin carried in the Chief of Police in the room with a frantic Kya trailing behind, trying to assure everyone Lin would be okay with a little bit of healing.

*An Hour Before*

All the world leaders and their plus one's were sitting around a large meeting table. Kya was squirming in her seat uncomfortably when her girlfriend put a hand on her thigh, signaling her to stop. The water bender looked at Lin, who had a straight face, with wide eyes. Lin side eyed Kya who immediately stopped moving and tried to pay attention. Tenzin, Korra, and Raiko soon started arguing back and forth about the upcoming election and rebuilding Republic City.

"Election comes first then rebuilding! You can't rebuild anything without MY permission and funds!!"

"Raiko you won't win if you neglect your citizens and keep focusing on yourself!! You're promising them things that aren't even possible so that you can win!! When everyone realizes this, you won't win! So shut the fuck up and listen!" Korra yelled. Everyone went silent and Raiko was fuming. The president stood up and so did Korra and Lin, who was making sure nothing went down.

"Korra. Language. And President Raiko, she's correct. You won't win this way." Tenzin said calmly. Raiko's assistant whispered something in his ear and the non-bender nodded.

"Fine. I give you permission to start rebuilding. The election can wait." Raiko said through gritted teeth. Lin walked to the middle of the room and furrowed her brows. "What is it Chief Beifong?" The metal bender waved him off and slammed her foot into the ground.

"EVERYONE OUT NOW!!" The Chief's voice boomed throughout the room. Everyone stood up and Su helped everyone out along with Tenzin and Lin. The President stayed. "President Raiko. You need to get out now!!"

Dumb Fuck: "Why? I demand to know what's going on!"

Lin: "There's no ti-" Several blasts went off throughout the building. Su and Tenzin ran out while Lin tried to get to the non-bending idiot. It was too late.. He was gone. Lin cursed under her breath and tried to find a way out. The door was blocked so the only way out was the broken window. Another blast went off directly under the metal bender and she screamed in pain as something pierced her abdomen. She crawled towards the window and slid through.

*Outside*

"IS EVERYONE OKAY?!" Tenzin yelled loud enough for everyone to hear. Korra checked on Asami and Zhu-Li who were helping Varrick up. Su and Bataar Sr. were helping Firelord Izumi and former Firelord Zuko. Kya was searching for her girlfriend who had yet to show up. Tonraq and Senna helped their niece and nephew up.

"LIN!! HAS ANYONE SEEN LIN?!" The water bender yelled as she searched through the rubble of the Future Industry building they were in. Everyone immediately searched for the missing Chief.

"FOUND HER!" Varrick yelled from the right side of the building. "Oh you're not looking so good Chief."

"No shit." She groaned then started coughing up blood. Everyone came running towards the two and gasped. A small chunk of the building was pierced through Lin's abdomen.
