Dark Days

As soon as her eyes closed, it was gone. Her bending was gone. A tear rolled down her cheek but no one cared to notice. Her body dropped to the ground and Amon called for his minions to kick her to the side.

She was awake. Yet she kept her eyes closed and slowly curled into a small ball. Smaller than anyone had ever seen the woman. The rain fall soaked her armor and clothes but she failed to notice. She could feel the stone she laid on but she couldn't feel it's imperfections. She couldn't bend it. She failed her mother. The city. Her friends.

It was weeks before someone came and rescued her. She was curled up in the corner of her cell when it flew off the hinges. She didn't jump or anything. She just sat there. She heard whispering then heard footsteps. She silently wished no one came to rescue her. The person approached the smaller woman.

"Lin..." She flinched at that. It had been weeks since she heard her name. And that voice...

"K-Kya?" The water bender kneeled down and picked up Lin.

Kya: "You don't have to say anything. I'm here now." At that, the tears finally came rushing down and Lin wrapped her arms and legs around Kya. "Shhhh. It'll get better. I know it will." That didn't help the sobs that escaped the former metal bender. They walked down the hall where Tenzin and the rest of the group watched. No one dared to say anything so they just walked along with them. The Chief was known to be a tough nut to crack so seeing her cry was just heartbreaking.

Kya stayed with her long lost friend, healing her other injuries, making sure she ate and just a shoulder to cry on. That was when the water bender realized, who she wanted to be with for the rest of her life. They'd figure that out later though.
