"She was supposed to be the weapon to help us kill Klaus," Stefan spoke as he looked at Damon, who was leaning his head on my shoulder.
We now stood in the Gilbert House Kitchen. I was sitting on the kitchen counter with Damon by my side while Elena and Stefan stood opposite me.
"Yeah. Well, not anymore." Elena stated in defeat. "At least not according to Elijah." She told us at which Stefan rolled his eyes.
"That coffin was the only thing stopping Klaus from tearing us to shreds," Stefan mumbled, walking away from the counter.
"Anyone else feeling a little used right now?" Damon asked, narrowing his eyes at him and all of us sighed.
"Look, Elijah promised that his family wouldn't hurt any of us," Elena remarked as the doorbell rang. "I believe him."
"Me too," I added as Elena walked over to the front door and opened it, revealing no one on the other side. She looked down and picked up something from the ground. She turned around with an envelope in her hand as we all joined her in the lobby.
"What is it?" Damon asked furrowing his eyebrows.
She opened the envelope, removing a card from it. "It's an invitation," Elena explained as she began reading from the card. "Please join the Mikaelson family this evening at seven O'clock for dancing, cocktails and celebration."
"Who the hell are the Mikaelsons?" Stefan asked confusingly.
"The Original family," I answered and crossed my arms.
"It's not bad enough that they're moving into town, now they want a house warming gift?" Damon asked in annoyance and I shrugged my shoulders.
Elena turned the card over. "Wait, there's a note on the back," Elena mumbled, furrowing her eyebrows. "Elena, I think it's time that we finally meet, Esther." Elena read out loud and we all exchanged a confused look.
The conversation became tense quickly when Elena suggested that she should meet Esther, much to the disappointment of Damon while Stefan and I agreed that she should go. We then decided that Damon and I will be going to the ball since Stefan was completely on outs with the Mikaelsons.
I drove to the boarding house alone as Damon had to go somewhere. I got out of the car and into the doorway when I noticed a box laying in front of the door. I picked up the cream coloured box. On top of it was a note that read, 'Thought you might need this. With love, K."
I opened the lid of the box, revealing a beautiful ivory white dress in it. How did Katherine know that I needed a dress? I put the lid back on and walked inside the boarding house with the box. I placed the box on the living room sofa and grabbed my phone from my pocket. I dialled Katherine's number as someone knocked on the door. I strode towards the door and opened it to see no one standing outside. I looked down to find an envelope on the rug, the one that Elena had received before. I picked it up from the floor.
