"Tony we can't do that." Wanda shot back. "We need to help her, she's obviously gone through something traumatic."
Tony rubbed his eyes; he didn't get much sleep last night since F.R.I.D.A.Y. alerted him as well. He spent the entire night trying to figure out where y/n came from and who she is. He knew using Wanda to read y/n's mind was wrong, but he had no luck in figuring out her background.
"Wanda, we need to know if she's a threat to us. And maybe we can finally figure out where HYDRA's base is and plan out how to take them down once and for all." Steve said while putting a hand on her shoulder. The entire group sat around a large table with Tony standing at the end with his hand holding his chin.
"I agree, and she attacked you, Wanda. I witnessed it. I've experienced what she has and it took me a long time to get where I am now, but it's only because of you guys. However, if we want to help her, we need to know her intentions." Bucky held eye contact with Wanda until she broke it off.
Wanda hadn't read someone's mind in a few months out of decency. She felt sorry for y/n because even though Wanda hasn't read her mind, she could sense the pain that radiated from her.
Natasha got up and put her hands on Wanda's shoulder from behind. "I know you don't want to do this, but we need to look out for each other. You're the only one who is capable of doing this, and it's a big ask, but please Wanda. Do it for us."
Wanda had enough. She got up and left the room and headed to the kitchen. Vision got up and followed her.
Wanda grabbed some bread, turkey, cheese, and mayo to make a sandwich. She then went into the fridge and cut a slice of carrot cake she made the night before and put it on a plate. She put the cake and sandwich onto a tray, grabbed a water bottle, and looked up to see Vision standing in front of her.
"Are you here to tell me to read the girl's mind too?" Wanda groaned.
"No, I'm here to listen to what you would like to do." Vision stated. He walked over to the kitchen counter and stood across from Wanda, only the counter separated them.
"I don't know. I want to build her trust, get to know who she is. She's hurting. She reminds me of me when Pietro di-" Wanda couldn't finish the sentence. Her breath hitched as she let out a sob. Tears fell from her eyes and she turned around to face away from Vision.
He walked around the counter and held her into his chest. Wanda hadn't cried about Pietro in three weeks, but speaking about him now ignited her grief once again. She remembered she had lost her entire family, everyone she's ever loved. She's all alone.
"If you would like to build her trust, then go do that. You shouldn't have to do anything you don't feel comfortable with." Vision rubbed Wanda's back as she calmed down. Wanda wiped her tears and nodded at Vision. She carried the tray of food and made her way towards the elevator for the basement.
Y/n was awake for some time. She tried to get a sense of who lived in the base. Captain America, the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, the Falcon, the girl she had hurt but didn't know the name of, and the android. Y/n then realized that the stone from the scepter was in the forehead of the android.
What the hell, why didn't HYDRA know about this? Unless they did. Did they want me to die? Why am I here? What was the point of all this?
Y/n breathing began to worsen again and clawed at the collar around her throat. She hyperventilated and tears began to well in her eyes.
The door to y/n's cell began to open and y/n screamed. She had a flashback of the HYDRA doctor opening her cell and beating her head against the wall until blood covered the back of her head. Y/n cried, sobbed, afraid of being hurt again.
Wanda rushed in with the tray of food in her hands and placed it on the ground before running towards y/n.
"Hey hey hey. What's wrong. It's just me, I'm not going to hurt you. Look at me." Wanda reassured y/n while crouching in front of her.
Y/n looked up to see Wanda, a concerned look plastered on her face.
"Take deep breaths. You're having a panic attack I believe. Match your breathing with mine, see?" Wanda put her hands on y/n's shoulders and took deep inhales and exhales until y/n's breathing matched it.
"See, you're doing great." Wanda smiled. "Here, I brought you some food. I made a carrot cake for the first time last night and everyone said it was pretty good. I figured you should try it, too." Wanda held the tray in front of y/n and y/n grabbed the fork and the plate with the cake.
Y/n took a bite and she smiled at Wanda, nodding her head to say that it was good.
"Why thank you. Also, I don't think I've introduced myself. My name is Wanda Maximoff. If you're comfortable, I would love to know your name." Wanda said happily.
"I don't know my name." Y/n's voice croaked, not having spoken in a very long time.
Wanda was surprised to finally hear her speak, but her heart shattered at hearing the sadness in the girl's voice. She put her hand on the girl's shoulder.
"I'm sorry. I was experimented with by HYDRA as well, except I volunteered to do it. I thought I was doing good, but I didn't know their true intentions." Wanda tried empathizing with y/n.
Y/n's ears perked up wondering how someone this nice got tied with HYDRA. "I don't remember anything. All I know is I am HYDRA's." Y/n opens up a bit. "And I get glimpses of what they've done to me that get triggered sometimes I guess."
"I got my powers from the mind stone, and from that, I'm able to read people's minds. However, I only do it with permission..." Wanda's voice trailed off.
"You can read my mind? Can you make me remember my past? Please?" Y/n begged Wanda.
"Only if you're sure and okay with it," Wanda replied.
"Do it, please."
