Kaenisa struggled against her abductor's hold, finally managing to wrest her hand free, ready to tackle her assailant to the floor.
"Woah! Woah. It's me." Zaic whispered loudly, hands raised above his head.
"What the fuck Zaic? You almost gave me a heart attack!" She reprimanded, shooting him a death stare, leaning against the glass, a hand pressed over her chest.
"Sorry." He apologized, giving her a sheepish smile.
"Where are you taking me?" Kaenisa asked, narrowing her eyes.
"You'll see."
Not wanting to engage in any more conversation, Kaenisa left it at that, rolling her eyes and ignoring the irresistible urge to ask where that was.
Soon, the elevator opened, revealing what she could only describe as a sky-bridge.
"Where is the rest of it ?" Kaenisa exclaimed, noticing the lack of glass that should have been surrounding them.
"It's the end, we're at the top."
She glanced ahead, beyond the circular floor of the elevator that held them at the top.
The pathway, entirely constructed out of glass, allowed her a magnificently terrifying view of the world below.
The overlapping ovals within which Sarina, Rolan and her rooms were, circled a relatively short tower below them.
It wasn't windy, even though they were so high up. Everything, the streets, vehicles, planes, was beneath them.
They really were at the top.
"Where...." She began, awe-struck.
"Just follow me." Zaic urged.
Kaenisa regarded him with a frown, unable to decide whether to obey or flick her hair in his face and go back the way she had come.
Then, as if he had read her mind, Zaic stepped closer.
"I know you're mad, but just please, hear me out. Just once."
Kaenisa felt her resolve weaken as she beheld his pleading lilac eyes, a request etched into them.
Her gaze travelled down to his luscious lips and those sky-high cheekbones.
Kaenisa sighed, knowing that he had won, "Lead the way."
As they walked across the bridge, everything seemed to fade into a fog, like a mirror on a cold day.
"You don't have a fear of heights?" Zaic asked, looking at her with mild amazement.
"No. I used to skydive as a hobby." Kaenisa asserted.
Zaic stared at her as if she were an alien from a no-name planet across the universe.
Kaenisa scoffed, "Wait. You don't know what sky-diving is!?"
A perfectly adorable blush rose to his cheeks. It made him look so cute that Kaenisa just couldn't help herself, throwing her head back as a throaty laugh tore through her.
"So...so what? I bet you don't know what Aquia Polcho is either." Zaic stuttered, raising his chin, redder than a sunburnt tomato.
"You mean the underwater, mermaid pole dance?" Kaenisa asked in a flat tone, twisting her lips.
"It's not a-It's...It's a....ugh. Yes." Zaic hung his head, defeated, looking very much like a drooping lily.
And just like that, they continued on. Presumably to the large dome-shaped structure, since that was the only thing in sight.
