– Wow, what's with that look? Did you actually imagine you could get away with that, you bitch?!
With every of his words, Jun's voice became more threatening, and the grin appearing on his face showed her he was going to enjoy every single hit he would land on her, until she would let out her very last breath. He raised his bat up in the air, and she told herself that yes, this time, she would absolutely not get away with it. She closed her eyes, getting ready to receive the brutal hit he was about to send right into her face. But at the moment she predicted it would reach her head, her aggressors began to scream at the top of their lungs. She opened her eyes: they were on the ground, doubled up with pain, while someone else was standing behind them. She lifted her chin up, and at the sight of Venom, a hand pointing at the bullies, a wearied smile came onto her lips. There was no denying anymore; she owed him her life. He looked back at her, eyebrows frowned.
– Are you okay? He questioned.
– Y-yes I am...
He advanced forward to reach his hand out to her, carelessly stepping on one of the boys in the process, and Dove took it without hesitation. He pulled her out of the toilets, helping her pass over the men on the floor, and observing her, searching for any wounds on her face and forearms.
– You sure you're fine? He asked again.
– Yeah, they didn't have the time to hurt me...
– Good. Because this school's off-territory, my boss wouldn't appreciate me killin' them. But say the word and I'm draggin' them away to finish 'em, 'kay?
Unsure of what to respond to that, she simply nodded, confused. She didn't know why he was acting that way towards her, or why he even came to help in the first place, and that stupefied her. Was it something like what she thought yesterday, did he have ulterior motives? At least, they didn't seem to include hurting her, or else, he would've just let her get beaten up to death by her harassers. But then again, why? She couldn't formulate any plausible explication, and, totally lost, followed him outside the restroom without questions. When they reached the hallway, he glanced at her, letting go of her hand.
– Hey, follow me.
She acquiesced, still too dumbfounded to answer with words, and walked by his side during all the way out of the university's building. The fresh air outside brought her some more relief, and she took a deep breath, finally settling down. Their walk through the city lasted longer than she expected, but somehow, it ended up calming her.
__________
– Yo Miss, ya know you have a pretty face?
Her dark eyes glared at the old man that sat right next to her, and if they were able to fire bullets, he would've been dead in a blink. She combed her long, neon-orange hair with her fingers, before rearranging her white tank top and her checkered brown pants, crossing her legs. The man's look wandered onto her cleavage, then on the flame tattooed on the right side of her neck, and the phrase written along her collarbones: kill to kill. Strangely, it did not act like a warning to him, or at least he chose to ignore it. He squeezed against her, holding out his phone, and the proximity made her want to cringe.
– Be a good girl, gimme your number!
She uncrossed her legs, faked a smile and tilted her head to the side, taking an expression as innocent as she could. Seeing that attractive woman acting so friendly towards him made the guy's face turn red, and her words didn't help:
– Okay, you sound nice! Come closer, I'll give it to you!
She waved at him to lean in, and without any wariness, he bent in, with a delighted grin as he took a closer look at her chest. But while he was busy detailing it, he did not see her hands going for the back of his head, and in less than a second, his face received a brutal kick from her knee, so hard it broke his nose. Disdainfully, she pushed him away, and at the sight of a blood stain on her brand-new pants, she frowned, angered.
– Claw, you slacker! How the fuck did that trash approach me?!
A tall, black-haired man appeared from the back of the lodge, hands into his jeans' pockets. The young woman turned around to glance at him with a scowl, as he shrugged. His short hair was pushed back, his eyes were a bright yellow, and the slim, long-sleeves gray tee-shirt revealing his muscular body added to his intimidating appearance. His entire neck was blackened by ink, while his wrists showed the end of colorful tattoos, hidden by his clothes.
– Not my fault, you attract 'em all like flies to honey.
– How lucky of me to be honey...
– You're too sour for that, Blaze.
The hand which patted her shoulder got slapped away, and she heavily pouted, crossing her arms in a bothered attitude. Claw leaned on the back of the couch to look at her, an amused smile on his lips.
– Isn't it time for you to get back on stage, already? He softly asked her. It has been a while, now.
– Nah, you know I can't risk my business just for the pleasure of seein' scums like that one being dead scared of me...
– Mh-hm, that's true. I just can't believe you're not missin' it.
– Dumbass. Of course I miss it.
She sighed, resting her neck on the sofa and peeking at him. She opened her mouth to talk, but her phone began to ring. She searched around her until she spotted it right next to her, and took it, surprised as she saw the name on the screen.
– Phase? I was expecting Sphinx, but not him...
She cocked her head to the side, but finally picked up with a smile:
– Hi handsome, she cheerfully greeted him. What is it?
– Hey sis! Just got a call from Venom.
– What is Pup up to?
– Well, there's someone we gotta meet. Now.
